I second the recommendation for www.ragweedforge.com. Ragnar is a great guy to do business with, and his site shows a HUGE selection of knives & stuff - beware though, you won't be able to get just one or two... :p

I haven't been able to find the manufacturer, but this page has some info, quoting from that : "The 1,000 and 4,000 grit stones should be soaked before using (or kept in a water bath)..." regards, Dimitris

From what I've read on the net, different brands of waterstones have specific storage requirements, for example Shapton prof. waterstones should NOT be left to soak. Check with the manufacturer to be sure. It also depends on the grit, coarse grits may require 10 mins soaking, ultra fine...

On the german site dick.biz mentioned above, it says that the blades and locking collar are both stainless steel. Has anyone ordered from this site? It seems to have a good variety of products.

Ragnar is a great guy to deal with - I'm waiting for my first order from him to arrive. Isn't it a pity that we have to buy Scandinavian knives from the U.S. though? Why isn't there a European online shop with a selection even remotely approaching Ragnar's? Dimitris
