Not a bad article that. It doesn't make you sound like a complete fruitcake ;)
I don't get Nat Geo channels :( are they online anywhere do you?

What sort of person looks at a watch and a tree and thinks 'I know, I could make one of those from one of those' ?
The level of patience and concentration required for something like that is just way beyond anything I can comprehend, I get sidetracked making a cup of tea ***.

I see the sun is getting to a few of us :-)
Dog walk kit is a roll of poo bags (not usually needed as the dogs wait to get to the woods), pocket knife, paracord (useful for all sorts, makeshift lead for stray dogs is a favorite).
On night walks I only take a torch if there is cloud cover, I...
I've just had two nights kipping in the Land Rover, first night was bloody cold, it was mid morning the next day before I realised I'd left the windows open. I blame the cider.

I can only echo what ForgeCorvus has said. I really liked it, the comment about the sheath is back on, it felt very good to snap home, so tactile in fact you could easily find yourself playing with it without thinking.
In the hand the knife felt good, I reckon it would be handy for skinning but...
I've met Lt Col Blashford Snell, he came to do a charity fundraiser evening at Calvert Trust Exmoor, I was involved in much of the building design there and oversaw a lot of the building projects. As a Land Rover fan his talk on the Darrien Gap Expedition was fascinating. I managed to resist...
Hopefully it'll get to me before next week ;) I've got a couple of weeks working outdoors at the bunkhouse I manage so it'll be a good opportunity to have a proper play :)

I have a pair of these - http://www.opticron.co.uk/Pages/im_tga_wp.htm sickeningly I bought them for £2.50 at a jumble sale, they were absolutely filthy but they have cleaned up well and friends who have looked through them have been genuinely staggered how good they are.

If you are heading to Exmoor then I can recommend this riverside site just east of Brendon
Just turn up and pitch, fires allowed. Ray the owner will happily sell you some logs. Its a 10minute walk to a decent pub. No streetlights for miles so the night skies are awesome. Exmoor is a Dark...
I take three knives out with me if theres the likelyhood I'll be needing a fire.
Swisscard - Xmas present I dismissed but find I use several times a day.
Mora - for general use, feathersticks etc
British Army Jungle Knife - bought in dreadful condition secondhand for £25, lots of grinding and...
Use the paracord to form a decent smoke seal around the door, it should push nicely into the gaps. Chuck the soft stuff out in case you need to jump but don't until its absolutely necessary.

Its my first year with a garden for a long time so growing stuff is high on the list as is just generally not being indoors of an evening.
My youngest son (nearly 12) is enjoying making stuff with wood at the moment so have plans for making some rustic garden furniture between us. The timber...
Always been a fan of the trilby myself, I have a habit of getting drunk and losing them though. In fact I am pretty much hatless at the moment having just lost my favourite waxed cotton brimmed hat on a days extended pub crawl with a crowd of friends :/

Just a quick post to recommend the Helikon-Tex Patriot Fleeces that Heinnie.com are flogging. I got one from Santa
http://heinnie.com/Helikon-Tex/Jackets/Patriot-Heavy-Fleece-Jacket/p-1175-1180-9498/
For £50 they have to be one of the best jackets you can buy for the money. Quality...
