    Kayaks, Swamps, and Crawdads

We use Louisiana brand crawfish/crab boil mix, add some cob corn, and smallish red potatoes, boil hard about 5-8 minutes, then off the heat and leave soaking in the mix for about another 15-20 minutes to let the flavors really seep in nicely. Dump 'em in a big foil pan, or on a newspaper covered...

    Kayaks, Swamps, and Crawdads

My nephew and I decided to drop a few test traps in the Sulfur River backwater near Mercer Bayou. It is still just a bit early for the areas early summer "crawdad explosion", but we had to take a shot at it. Loaded the yaks, strapped on the traps, hosed on the Deet, and plunged into the stifling...

    Frosts Fanclub

I am a proud owner of several Frosts blades. My orange/orange 760 finished a 200 lb. wild hog, with a little poke to the heart, then skinned, and quartered it, and only needed a bit of a strop to get back to shaving sharp. I love these blades, without a doubt some of the sharpest in my collection.

Bush blade project in the works w.pics

Thanks for the finger concern, but it is OK. My main reason for even getting it roughly sharp was to see if I was gonna leave it "as is" regarding hardness. I do & will exercise due caution with sharp pointy things. My fingers, toes, and other needed extremities thank you nonetheless!

Bush blade project in the works w.pics

Here is a little bush blade I am working on, well, need to get back to work on that is. The blank is a slice of a 4ft dia. sawmill circle saw blade circa 1950 that my dad had in his workshop all these years, and once I got the itch to make a blade, he dragged the strips out, and let me have a go...

    quality locker!

+1 for the Byrd line. We own several Byrd blades, and they take, and hold a very fine edge, love being stropped, and are very affordable. My most recent mod was taking my Cara Cara down flat, to improve slicing and ease sharpening. Wow, this thing cuts like crazy now. Here are before and after pics:

    Introducing Myself (pic heavy)

My EDC folder is either my Camillus Heat (reworked & reprofiled), or my Byrd Cara Cara, which was convexed in the above pic, but was since flattened to zero with a tiny secondary added, cuts like a laser. My normal bush fixed blade is either a Mora Clipper, or SS Mora 760 in orange/orange. If...
