    NBD: Crux AK-47

I'm guessing mine is of similar age and whilst it shows signs of use, there's still plenty of life left in it. I'm hoping this newer model will be just as durable and long lasting. I don't know how sealed seams last compared to stitched, I'd assume stitched would last longer though.

    NBD: Crux AK-47

I've been looking at the Crux AK-47 for years and always wanted to try one, so a couple of months ago I bought a used one (1st generation with floating hood) to try from eBay for not a lot of money. I've used it a fair bit training with mountain rescue and I've used it walking and camping...

Just a little update. Today I have submitted my end module TMA. It was an especially fun one because on Friday just gone, after 2 weeks of working on it, my laptop, which I only purchased this year, died. I spent the weekend re-writing it. Today was the deadline. The worst thing is that all I...

    Headlight recommendations please

I looked at those and thought at that price they'd be great to stick in backpacks/jacket pockets for emergencies, and then I saw they currently have an offer on, 13.69 for 2 down from 17.99...

    Headlight recommendations please

I have quite a few head torches. I have a LedLenser H8r and HF6r core, both are fantastic torches. My favourite though is still the Sofirt HS20. It has 2 bulbs, one flood and one throw. The flood is superb for reading a book, or reading a map. One feature I really like is that the bulbs have...

    The Buffalo Field Blanket

Basically, because we have down, which traps tremendous amounts of air for it's weight compared to fleece. The foil sounds good but in reality it acts as a vapour barrier, which is great when you want to reduce evaporative heat loss in a wet and cold casualty, but not great when it's trapping...

    The Buffalo Field Blanket

Interesting. Looks like the sort of thing that could work well when dogsbodying. Ben Fogle has just become an ambassador for Mountain Rescue England & Wales. Hoping he brings in a discount for MR members.

I haven't read the whole thread so don't know if it's been established yet but I'm pretty sure this is a wind up, the only source I can find is from FLN News, a spoof news outlet.
