I believe the Good Samaritan act covers any trained medical professional which includes first aiders. Maybe just the providers I have gone to recently, they seem to be making more of a point of it now than I can remember.

Not to my knowledge but it is something that gets mentioned on first aid courses and is becoming a growing concern particularly in the outdoor industry.

Sorry, I’m not entirely convinced this is a good idea… I think if people want to learn medical protocols the best thing they can do is go through a registered training provider and attend a real life course. Even though you mention qualified personnel, if someone ends up in the worst thinkable...

IIRC the earliest examples of direct blood transfusions were from the napoleonic war. I remember seeing paintings in which the donor was placed in an elevated position in order to increase blood pressure. Of course remembering that if someone is in need of transfusion then their blood pressure...

If you think about a maple dropper tip, the diameter is only about 8mm. It makes far more sense to take a few of those with you and just let the holes do their thing once you’ve finished. That is if your thinking of collecting anything more than a cup full as you say.

I sometimes use a drill as a hammer… or a wrench, pliers, screwdriver, block of wood, bandsaw… Basically anything as a hammer! :burnout:

That sounds awesome! I couldn’t imagine fishing from an oil rig. In my mind they’re hundreds of meters above the water are they not? Definitely get some photos I for one as very intrigued.

Have you tried wrapping some ptfe tape around the screw thread? It could be either worn thread or some dirt in the thread, I don’t believe there is a gasket that goes in there as far as I can remember but I’ll check one of my stoves later. Or possibly the clever use of a fibre washer? Hmmm

Any REC level 2/Outdoor first aid would be the course I’d reccomend. It’s what we as outdoor professionals have to have as a bare minimum. It’s a qualification in its self and is quite in depth, but it’s a very doable course designed around people in the outdoors with limited kit. You’ll also...
