    Slightly different tarp advice...

I've nearly finished building my camper van based on a Mercedes Vario 814 (not sure it'll ever be finished) and am looking for a tarp to act as a cheap/versatile awning. I plan on lashing it to the roofrack and then using a couple of poles to support the other end. It will live in the van so...

    Our New Home

I'd be more than happy to, just not sure about getting my saws/kit there  Any more progress with the house/garden?

    Our New Home

Just read this from start to finish, very well done! That exposed brick on the outside walls is just beautiful! Im an Arborist by trade so if you still need those trees pruning, it's a possibility I could head that way for an adventure ...

    Carving set

Tanks, any recommendations on a decent crook knife that won't break the bank?

    Carving set

Looking to get into some carving. I'm an Arborist so have a never ending supply of wood and always thought it'd be nice to do something with it, other than just burn the stuff! Whats do I need to get started? I was thinking a Clipper and a crook knife although I've heard the frosts crooks...

    Bill hook

I've acquired a rusty old bill hook which turns out to be a spear and Jackson. I know theyre not meant to be that great but as it seems pretty old I wondered if the steel was better back then? It's marked Spear/Jackson and seems to have a number 9 stamped on the blade too. Just wondering if...

    Cast Iron..

Jay checked out the RS Dutch ovens and they look a fair price. Think I'll pick one up. They say pre seasoned, how did you find that?

    Cast Iron..

May as well buy new then. Is there much difference in quality, steels etc?

    Cast Iron..

I'm looking for a cast iron frying pan and a Dutch oven. I've done a bit of reading re seasoning etc. Would I be better buying new or a used one?

    Mercedes 814 live in conversion.

Both the roof vents are in, sealed with plenty of sealant all round as well as on the screws. Pretty easy to fit once we'd figured it out! I'm away in Scotland for a week but when I'm back I'm hoping to get the roof battens finished which is a pain because I have nothing to clamp to so I'm...

    Opinel rehandle

I may buy another no.8 and do it myself as a practice. Although cheap, I've had my opinel quite a while and don't want to ruin it. Where's a good place to pick up Snakewood etc?

    Mercedes 814 live in conversion.

This is a thread I've started on another forum which I will carry on here. My plan is to build this into a comfortable home over winter in which I can travel in :) I'm pushed for time but I do hope to get down to it today and get the roof vent openings cut, glued and screwed in place today...

    Opinel rehandle

I've got an Opinel no.8 that I use everyday and fancied getting it rehandled to make it a bit more fancy. I saw this and absolutely love it! Is there anybody here that could do this for a fee? I like the fact it still keeps some of the original handle too...
