BushMoot: Come along to the amazing Summer Moot 31st July - 5th August (extended Moot : 27th July - 8th August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
The stars seem to have aligned, and it looks like I'm going to be in the UK while the Moot is on.
I may actually manage to go this year. I can't think when I last made it, must be 6 years at least.
One of my favourites is not a meal as such, but an accompaniment to one.
Skirlie
Dice a large onion and sauté in butter until soft.
Add oatmeal and cook until butter is absorbed.
Serve with roast chicken dinners for best effect, although it's good with mince and potatoes too.
I've got a down vest that I picked up in Tiso a few years ago, it's really good. Packs down to about the size of a water bottle and is seriously warm.
I usually stuff it into the top of my pack when I'm out as a bonus layer, It's proved itself invaluable when sitting around camp at night when...
Zebra make some nice stacking tiffin tins, 10, 12 and 14 cm win 1, 2, 3, and 4 layer sets.
I can pick them up at the local supermarkets fairly cheaply.
Some come with snap on plastic lids too
Very popular with the compound staff over here.
I took the glue off with a stanley knife blade, and I glued it back together with evostick contact adhesive.
I clamped it in a vise to dry too.
10 years and still going strong.
I have one of the lids, and to be honest, you'd be better off getting some thin metal from B&Q and making your own.
The lid snaps on, and is a pain to get off if the mug is hot.
A few years ago at the Moot, I was stung on the top of the thigh by a wasp and had a very bad reaction.
Fortunately Toddy had her anti-histamine there, the swelling was so severe my leg was leaking fluid through the skin.
I carry some now.
I'd never had a reaction so bad from a sting or bite.
I have that very watch, it's been in regular use for about 7 years.
Great watch, with lume you can read by.
If it broke, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
I'll take the bag and the shades please.
Despite my location, postage will be to a UK address (I have a drop shipping address) so don't worry about that.
:D
PM Me your PP details and I'll get the funds sent over.
Sorry, that should have been stowaway pot.
Zebra make all of MSR's stainless steel cookware as far as I'm aware.
Incidentally, the 12 and 14cm stowaway pots will sit on the corresponding billy can as there is a recess on the base.
I've got a couple of them, It's the MSR Mountain pot by any other name (Made in the same factory too)
I pick them up for a few quid in the local hypermarket.
