    Power at the farm

Considering a budget petrol inverter so I can charge phones off-grid. Seen some around £100 but I'm wondering if it will be worth the trouble. The lesson from this thread is don't go cheap. But £300 just to charge phones and avoid going into town !

    Persuade me to go light?!

My sleep system is a BA bivvy under a tarp which work fine until the minus 4 dew arrives and dampens the outer layer of the sleeping bag. If there is direct sunlight or a breeze I can dry it during the day. If not the bag stays a bit damp. Any advice on how to avoid or mitigate the -4 UK dew.

Mil Tec Flecktarn Tarp - opinions and sources?

Similarly here: looking for a small lightweight camo tarp. Can find anything so will probably buy an olive DD superlight tarp S. At least you know that the quality, pack size and weight are excellent and that's a good start. Strange gap in the market tho

What are snugpak sleeping bags like?

I hear so many reports about Snugpak zippers failing that it puts me off getting one. I wonder if it would be worth the cost to replace the Snugpak zip with a YKK zipper. Anybody done that

    Tent or bivvy?

If I had to choose one I would prefer to have the certaincy and quality of a 800g BA gortex bivvy rather than a light weight SF Snugpak bivvy & tarp combo which would weigh about the same maybe a bit more

    Tactical?

I'm looking for a new 30l backpacking rucksack which will also double as an EDC (every day carry) as i attempt to take on the grey man persona. I want the thick shoulder straps and significant back padding which I can only find when searching on military tactical bags. This doesn't work out...
