I like making gear :)
I can literally spend a weekend in the woods wearing and using nothing that I have not made myself - from hat to shoes, tarp to stove via all my clothing, hammock, plates and bowls and billycans ... and now I am learning wood turning and Green Woodworking...
Ah - the good old books get read to pieces! My wife works in a charity bookshop and they get a lot of trash books (eg 50 Shades of Grey) that get recycled before the spine shows any wear at all! Quality tells!

For my permanent site - used about 6 weekends a year with up to 6 people at a time for two nights - I dig a trench and loo roll is burned and the ash and deposits are buried. Once the trench is full a new one is prepared. There are no water courses near-by. The land owner approves of the method...
