New axe, eye a bit splintered. Problem or no?

I've just received a Hultafors 006 Trekking axe. (Ordered from Amazon as I had credit there) As you can see, the top of the handle has split somewhat where it's been wedged. This is my first axe, so just wanted a 2nd/3rd/4th opinion on whether this was par for the course or represented a...

Ditto. Do we know when it's available?

berghaus "centurio" vs. karrimor "sabre" ?!

I'm sure other will be able to share more opinions, but for me the Centurio is let down by its waist strap - it's not padded like the sabre, it's just a webbing strap which won't be comfortable. And there are some compatibility issues with the side pouches and zips, I don't think it takes the...

WinterMoot 2024 - Festival of Outdoor Cookery

Looks brilliant. (I did the Wild Human Woodlander course with Elaine last summer - sounded like she had a great time on the Moot)

    Camera or phone? (Poll experiment)

I love photography but it pains me to say it's only the phone I use these days. I have a Canon 60D and a Yashica Rangefinder, both of which I love, but it's so hard to justify lugging them around when the phone is right there in the pocket.

What's making these little holes in the ground?

This makes sense, there are definitely some badger setts in the vicinity.

What's making these little holes in the ground?

Walking in the woods in Wiltshire, lots of these little excavations along the path. We thought maybe squirrels looking for their nuts, but some of them are quite large and have move quite a lot of dirt. Can anyone enlighten me?

    Best side pouch for LK35?

Thanks for the reply :) I ended up doing basically that - adding some PALS strips and MOLLE pouches https://bushcraftuk.com/community/threads/had-a-go-at-adding-pouches-to-the-lk35.164059/

May I ask what the appeal of an 'LP' axe is? Are they considered the best maker?

I was looking at this too - great deal if you can find one.

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

This is the cheapest it's been on Amazon so I've bitten. I just got notified that the Petzl Actik Core is £43.99 on Amazon (you have to go to the other sellers). It comes with the Core rechargeable battery and it normally sells for £50-60+ Free Prime delivery although it'll take a little...

    Try Stick

Another great job. Interesting that you found the thicker blade more tricky to work. My Bushlord is a whopping 5mm, but I found that really useful for finer push cuts with my thumb. I have a Lars Falt slipjoint which I'll have to try for comparison. (I can imagine the hole-through-stick being a...
