Altberg tabbing boots are worth a look; made on a trainer-type last but in service with the military. Extremely light weight and very tough indeed, I'm still on a pair from three years ago and I reckon they'll do that again.

Long term springer owner, and I couldn't agree more, my dogs only wore collars when on the lead and that was rarely. Horrible and potentially dangerous scenario, a hung-up dog.

I've used mine for years to carry medication in, rather than carry boxes of tablets around. I pop the required number of days worth out of their plastic bubbles, best thing I've ever found for the purpose.

Whence comes Gentian Violet? That's what we always used with good results.
