    Coping with the heat.

The Tilley T3 Wanderer (the boonie style hat) is available from several of shops here in the UK. The Sunday Afternoons Adventure hat (the one shown in the picture I shared) only seems to be available to buy over the internet. There are a couple of UK distributors who sell them as well as the...

    Coping with the heat.

My most commonly worn sun hats are a Tilley T3 Wanderer (boonie style) and a Dorfman Pacific Outback hat. Both are great hats which work well and look cool but when it comes to pure outright functionality a Sunday Afternoons Adventure hat beats them both by a country mile. Whenever I intend to...

    Why a Swiss Army Knife.

I use sewing machine oil on my Victorinox multi-tool.

Alone (UK) TV series. What ten items would you choose?

!!! Judging from how most people look their bodies must be full of cholesterol and toxins. Maybe an organic human raised on a good quality healthy diet might taste nice but I wouldn't fancy eating your average Western European person for 'obvious reasons'.

    What are you listening to?

I have never watched/listened to classical music being played live. Far too 'common' for that during my younger years. I would love to go to one though... Maybe I can find a nice outdoor venue some time this summer.

    What did you buy today?

I like G-Shock squares. So I've bought a nice bright one for summer.

    Why a Swiss Army Knife.

I have never felt the need to. My oldest SAK is 15 years old, well used and is quite grubby inside now. But that hasn't affected the performance or smoothness of movement in any way.

    Why a Swiss Army Knife.

I have a SAK sat on my desk at work and no one gives it a second thought. It would probably raise a few eyebrows if there were any other kind of sharp knife sitting in it's place though.

    Best outdoor work clothes

Interesting. The Swazi Micro Fleece Pants look like just the thing I need for when it gets really chilly and want a third layer of insulation in between my merino wool base layer and New Forest Trail outer trousers.

    Best outdoor work clothes

Over the past year or so I’ve been on a bit of a spending spree buying new, good quality outdoor working clothes to replace the cheap, low quality stuff that I had previously been using. My selections were based on a considerable amount of advice and suggestions provided from this forum (thank...

    What are you currently reading?

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. I know it supposed to be a children's book but I really enjoyed it. A good old fashioned adventure with a few unexpected twists. Robert Louis Stevenson works wonders at creating a great atmosphere.

Off grid Living - modern feasibility.

I think it’s useful to speak to neighbors about your ideas before applying for planning too. For example we already know before hand that our neighbors would be happy for us to live there permanently (my girlfriend practically lives there during the day time already). We also know what size and...

Off grid Living - modern feasibility.

Also many years ago I worked with a guy whose friend owned a piece of woodland which was off the beaten track and inaccessible for the public. Together with the help of some friends he built a small wooden house there without planning permission and lived in it for many years without any...
