I am one of those that appreciates the range of light output on the D10. Low can be to low in some situations, but bright can end up reflecting back too much light off whatever I am looking at especially in confined spaces.

When I used to ride a Goldwing I towed a 28 cu ft trailer behind it. It was full to the brim too!!

Low self discharge NiMH batteries would be your best choice. Sanyo Eneloops are a good example. I get mine from www.component-shop.co.uk They also do some cheaper LSD-NiMH batteries. NiMH batteries voltage drop off quickly at the end. Nice torch by the way. I have one as well. Andy
