BushMoot: Come along to the amazing Summer Moot 31st July - 5th August (extended Moot : 27th July - 8th August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
It's not a moan. We're using the same sources. Nothing seems to be flagged for the bit we need access to at the moment. The site is very sandy so water isn't usually much of an issue. I'm more worried that the bridges will be shut which will cause significant problems down the M4 as one bridge...
I'll be on the motorway tomorrow, so shouldn't be an issue based on the advice I've been looking at over the last hour or so.

Yeah, I probably wasn't listening when Eric was talking about it.
It's to protect the wood a little. Let's see what happens.

I have a lathe turned mallet and some dog chew rawhide which I've soaked and unrolled.
How do I fix the rawhide to the mallet? It's quite damp, not sure if it's a glue job or something that needs little nails or sommat.

Yes the site is highly wooded you will have no problem pitching a hammock and tarp in the space mentioned. Just less of a walk to the loo.

Fair enough Tony, I wasn't aware of the changes for that. They're hard work aren't they! Means no camping dingly dell side then? I'd just bought all the gear for a reasonable size tarp to go up somewhere so I'm going to have to get adventurous in finding a new pitch!

It's a big site. 300 acres. Depends how lost you want to make your camp. There's no reception on site, but plenty of nice people and warm fires to sit by.
It's the 2nd winter moot. I missed the first. Looking forward to a week of relaxing by the fire. It'll be nice to meet you.

Tony usually has a couple of barrows for moving gear if needed. He does in the summer - not sure about the wintermoot!

That's true! I wanted a lantern that could last 8hrs a day for a week - so as long as it does 56hrs I should be more than fine. That's enough time to cook in the dark and have a couple of games of cards on camp.

I bought two of these smart little lanterns from Amazon for the winter moot. I paid £21 but they've been as low as £14, so worth keeping tabs on camelcamelcamel with them to look for the right price.
They are part of a series, with lots of versions floating about. Some have got clocks...
Think SteveM has now got ticket for him and Jack. What day are you thinking of doing the deer? I'm thinking of ordering in a couple of rabbits at the butcher's and I don't want it to clash.
