    Pocket spoon?

I had a bit of a kolrosing doodle on it yesterday. Stained with pimentòn & walnut oil.

    Wanted Sebenza

I think Mark Congerton over on FB @Congys Knife Sales may have one. I’ve bought a few from him and very happy to vouch for his service.

    What did you buy today?

I haven’t really decided. It’s enormous & I don’t have an immediate plan for it tbh. Just couldn’t bear to leave it.

Found this lovely pure wool KS blanket for £4 in a charity shop in Cheadle. Absolutely love it.

'Razor sharp out of the box'

Not sure what it is about mushroom knives in particular but I have had several gifted to me & none has ever been anywhere close to sharp. I just cut them with a cheap Sheffield pruning blade now, which is easy to keep sharp & wasn’t bad when it arrived either.

    Pocket spoon?

You can always put a notch in it & use it as a very beautiful tent peg!

    Pocket spoon?

A quick carved pocket spoon inspired by the lovely kayak/canoe spoons at Spoonfest. Surprisingly good to eat with & pretty indestructible I’m guessing. I’m definitely doing some more like this so I might use this one for some kolrosing practice later.

    Recommendations for tent / nerves

Sounds like you are after a tarp tent or something similar. I had a GoLite Shangri La which was excellent, but a few years back found a MSR Twin Peaks, which is even better. Pitches with poles, sticks or ties from above & fits in a coat/backpack pocket. Also fits over the ShangriLa bathtub...

Hats and accessories and ideas please

I have a canvas-ish cotton baseball cap for work unless it’s proper sunny ( in the Lakes? ) when I wear a squishable Panama straw fedora style hat from Ecuador. It came from a friend as a gift many years ago & is perfect as a stylish sunblock.

    Sleeping quilt

Not sure if they are still available but I share your problem & found Fjallraven poncho quilt thingy to be brilliant. It was a co-design with some cycling brand & has a combination of poppers & zips to make a poncho, a quilt or a sleeping bag. I love it.

Lower volume, outdoor brand rucksack with a long back length - 20-25 litre to fit a 196cm / 6'5" tall person??

I’m also a tall person & my current carry is a Lowe Alpine 25L backpack. It’s not really long enough but when you’re only carrying a couple of good pocketfuls does it really matter that much? If I’m carrying bulk or weight I have a lovely Aarn rucksack to take the strain.

    What are you listening to?

I’m chilling out with a respectably generous glass of Lakes Distillery Whiskymaker’s Reserve No5 and listening to the sublime Jimmy Giuffre Trio. I challenge you not to feel more chilled when you hear these guys play.

    WHAT DID YOU MAKE TODAY?

Got round to making a temporary sheath for this little detail sloyd blade knife. I suspect that the handle is going to be too small & need extending but that’s another day’s job. Today I made a very quick bark sheath with some offcuts which will keep the blade secure and undamaged until I get...
