Hybrid cars - expensive to maintain?

if you are doing long highpeed journeys (55mph+) then the diesel is the way to go. If you are pottering around town, the occasional 40mph journey then hybrid should win. I just like the shape of the car and equipemnt :D

Hybrid cars - expensive to maintain?

The fuel consumption of hybrids is notoriously overstated, I know cos I have one. Also very much depends on your driving style and journey. For most they basically allow you a big car (mine is 2.5L petrol) but cheap 'road tax' and lower fuel bills. A 2.5l petrol should get what 30mpg, I get...

Armytek Tiara C1 USB XP-L headtorch review

No problem Tony, had it on another forum and forgot to paste it over here. It was a shade under 50quid.

Armytek Tiara C1 USB XP-L headtorch review

Hi all, Just a quick review of the Armytek Tiara C1 USB XP-L headtorch I picked up a couple of days ago. Note that this is the warm version which I prefer for use outdoors. I owe it to the forum for the helpful input in selecting a new headtorch. I'm not going to go into all the technical...

    Olight torches, headlamps etc

Never owned one but they get a decent rep. Chinese company, quality is pretty good. They seem to keep up with the technology for LEDs, USB charging, batteries etc. I replaced my headtorch with an armytek recently, never went for the olight H1R as there was not much to differentiate from the...

    Normandy ideas?

Hi All, Heading off to Normandy for a wee holiday and looking for some 'must sees' to well... see. Interested in the D-Day history stuff but as we will have our other halves with us we are going to hit up Bayeux and Mont Saint-Michel too. Best D-Day places and museums to visit? Good...

    Age

We have a saying up here, "Old age doesn't come alone!" Probably universal. I've just passed 50 and like you wake up stiff and uncomfortable most mornings so I tend to get up and do some light exercise (a little taichi) to get moving. I don't go back to bed though and we used to regularly...

They're making it easier to diagnose Lyme disease..

Mrs Chainsaw is a dentist, her favourite thing also... weirdos ;) Makes our dinner conversations interesting and needless to say the 'little chainsaws' have very little issues with this kind of stuff, too used to it.

You are only paranoid if they are not out to get you....

They're making it easier to diagnose Lyme disease..

Not everyone who is bitten develops a rash Not everyone who is adversely affected develops a rash. It is safe to say that anyone who is bitten and develops a rash is at risk of developing the disease which is what they are trying to cover here. Not everyone gets the flu like symptoms before...

Strange tyre - looks dodgy to me.

I doubt and RAC check would have missed that! The 3 blind mice would have caught it. Be interested to ask to see the RAC inspection cert, maybe use it a leverage for a new tyre or two...?

    Blackfeather Knives...

Think he was struggling with that too, was talking about up to 75 knives a month... Nice problem to have if you are a maker I guess but it must destroy you if you feel like you are literally nose to the grindstone. Maybe if he gets back into it as a hobby, something he wants to do it'll ramp up...

    Blackfeather Knives...

I see that there is a facebook group for blackfeather and the fella is more active there. He has had some tough times in his personal life and it sounds like his partner messed around with the business side of things which has caused a lot of issues re orders etc. He hints that he's getting...

    Rewaxing dewaxed canvas stuff

I asked the same question a while ago and it developed into a bit of a saga. Was good fun though... https://bushcraftuk.com/community/index.php?threads/best-wax-for-a-canvas-pack.128953/

    Blackfeather Knives...

There is a facebook page but I see someone on there is reporting how they haven't heard from him in a loong time. I'd make contact long before ordering anything! Sounds like he's struggling with demand but I could be doing him a disservice. The knives look good but I'd still be tempted to go...

Hybrid cars - expensive to maintain?

Honda have had one for sale in SoCal for some time now but issue is refuelling infrastructure for Hydrogen, generation cost/efficiency and physical distribution. The cars are certainly viable but yet again it comes down to how quickly and easily the manufacturers can maximize profit and...

Hybrid cars - expensive to maintain?

Mine is NiMH, not NiCd and it's a 2015, not sure what other marques are using, either way battery disposal/recycling will be an issue

Hybrid cars - expensive to maintain?

No question, car dealers can only exist on new car sales everything else is just annoying noise to them. You will seldom see a car over maybe 3 years on a main dealers forecourt and don't get me started on the conflict of interest that is PCPs.....!! It's in a dealers interest to get you to...
