    European centric ?

I don't think so, but the UK/Ireland version of it is in my opinion/experience rather unique. It is quite... compromised, in many respects to make it acceptable/sustainable on small, densely populated islands. Somewhat more controversially, we rather play at it, for societal & legal reasons.

I am sorry to be a pill, but I do believe at this point this issue needs to be addressed at a level above the mods.

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

I'm in a well populated city suburb and unless I travel in rush hour, I can either wait an hour between services or walk to the nearest "metro route" which is half the distance to the city centre anyway.

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

Someone, somewhere is preaching new things on that score. The number of times I've heard "nuclear weapons are smaller and cleaner now, all we have to do is go into our basements for a fortnight and we'll be okay. It's worth it to get rid of a dictator like Putin" in the past couple of years is...

    Sharpmaker +

I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker that I've decided is surplus to my needs. It's well used, I bought it 2nd hand from here, but perfectly serviceable. I've added a pair of boron nitride rods and will give the standard stones a good rub down with Barkeeper's Friend before swapping. It's one of those...

    Review of Worksharp field sharpener

Bit of a necropost but having just got one, I searched to see if it had been mentioned. I really like this bit of kit. Hadn't heard if it until I happened by a video a while back and liked the multi media nature of it. Nothing else that's (just about) pocketable works like this for me. I will...

'Razor sharp out of the box'

Only ever had two knives that I would describe that way, the CQC-7 I got for my 30th and much longer ago, a pocket money priced stainless Tramontina Bowie which I actually shaved with, not long after I started shaving.

I'm going to grump! (Royal Mail)

So, I live in Belfast, N. Ireland, on Monday evening I bought a couple of items from a local seller on eBay. He duly delivered them to a post office counter on Tuesday morning, service used was RM 48 Tracked. This morning my phone 'binged' with a message from Royal Mail, expecting to see a...

How to fix this ? Norwegian food container hot / cold food drinks. 18 litre insulated British Army

Is it maintaining temperature okay? If it is I would worry about the crack unless I was going to be using it for dispensing liquids. If it's only going to be used with the containers or as a cooler, it should be fine as is. If you do need the repair, I'd probably go for two pack epoxy...

Army blanket, cleaning other than dry cleaning.

Wool is washable. Although it sounds like it might be a pong from preservation chemicals, things that moths and bugs don't like. Try hanging it on a washing line for a few days.
