    Just an idea

I tend to leave wildlife alone unless there's a very good reason (being hungry is a very good reason). Nature is tougher than a lot of people think, and there is a lot of damage done by well-meaning members of the public.

    Hunter shoots Bear

Misleading title. I clicked hoping that a certain scatelogically-obcessed loudmouth ex-soldier TV 'personality' got his comeuppance.

    dry food suggestion

Add dried onion and a little tinned beef or spam and you have a tasty beef or spam hash. Form into patties and fry and you have potato cakes.

    dry food suggestion

Sainbury's instant/dehydrated mash takes no cooking and costs less than £1 a box. One box has 4x packets each making up to (I think) 600g.

    Bushcrafting with a katana

Old Hickory and Green River knives are apparently fine, inexpensive domestic/kitchen/utility blades.

    Knives for sale

AFAIK posession is fine, just buy/sell/give. Might be an intersting heirloom.

    Whitehouse brothers Blacksmiths hammer.

The chisel is a set or sate. Essentially a chisel on a stick.

What NOT to take to work.

A few years back I was using my little Kuhn Rikon paring knife in the kitchen -- one of these: http://gadgetgrid.gadgetgridllc.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/kuhn-rikon-colori-knife.jpg Note that it comes with a little blade guard/sheath. I'd put it into a long and slim little pocket...

..and all the rest of the BG Gerber stuff:

Why are they selling locking folders to scouts? They'd be better off with a slipjoint or friction folder, or a fixed blade.

living outside for a year in a permanent camp what would you take

I'm in a similar situation. Speaking with a couple people who have done this, sanitation and food storage are the main concerns. Washing becomes awkward when you have to heat the water over wood first, so a solar shower or some sort of dedicated water-heater might be of some use. I expect a...

    Small to medium anvil needed

You don't need a bick to make a circle. The only thing I think a bick is neccesary for is getting inside a piece too tight to fit the face of the anvil into. (This is why farrers' anvils often don't have a table/step between the bick and the face.) Some people use the top surface of a round bick...

    Bushcrafting with a katana

I suspect this and the rest of the post were made with tongue firmly in cheek. Note the earlier references to same supposed Act. I know very little about the subject, but I understand that katana used in combat often bear scars form hitting armour or bone. Bit like an axe hitting a nail or a...

    Small to medium anvil needed

This topic comes up fairly often. I can't be bothered to type a complete response yet again, but to summarise: 1) Cast iron is, no matter what the seller might tell you, very unsuitable for an anvil. The word 'junk' springs to mind. 2) New anvils are very expensive. 3) Don't look for an anvil...

    Bushcrafting with a katana

Never heard of it, and neither has Google. Says whom?

    Bush cigar substitute?

You were lucky. There have been such 'gardeners' taken very unkindly to intruders to their 'grass' growing areas. As in 'boom' or 'stab' unkind.

    Portable Forge for Shows.

I agree with Dave; the erm... flat-earthers (politest term I could find) would be hard-pushed to notice the difference between mild and high-carbon under the hammer. Does your PLI cover hot iron or vending?
