    Nice Boat going on Ebay

Who's up for a group buy? We could finance Moots by terrorising small nations.

any one no of a good wood choping knife

Billhooks rock. Also they are potentially more 'non-knifey-people-friendly' than a big knife, considering they are an ancient farming tool. Buy a British one and help keep manufacturing going.

Grapefruit cutter ruled 'a knife' by high court judge

Table/butter knives are knives and thus require 18+, yet forks have no age restrictions. I'm glad that state-employed busybodies have tackled all the other social ills so ruthlessly that this was the priority way to spend court time and money.

    Keeping a disposable lighter dry

I've often wondered, where does everyone get these unlubed johnnies supposedly so useful for everything from waterproofing lighters to sealing rifle barrels to carrying water (if kept in a sock)? Are they something that used to be common? I've never come across one (ahem). They wouldn't seem to...

Hex Stove as a Firebox ?

I find the hex-stoves tend to rust and burn out within a few packets' use. Perhaps stainless would solve this issue?

    Red Light Mobile Phone?

Sounds quite specialist to me, which in English means 'expensive'. How about taking an old phone with a monochrome LCD screen and swapping out the backlight LEDs for red ones? (Assuming you know someone who can solder SMD :D )

    Chequers up for grabs

Yes please Mang, always up for trying something new. What size envelope exactly do I need?

tin lined copper or brass trade kettles?

That's why these kettles are tin lined! Tom, I believe copper would be the better material. IIRC it has a much better thermal conductivity.

Depends whether I can guarantee a resupply.

    air rifle question

Is this your mate who had a tragic boating accident resulting in said Airposrter disappearing into the briney and conveniently unlocatable depths? As I recall he/she was transporting said Airposrter over an immemorial, undiveable stretch of water for some equally immemorial reason.

Removing enamel paint from a wool blanket

When I used to use a lot of enamel paint (Airfix, yes I'm a geek) white spirit was always what I used to clean brushes. Never harmed even proper bristle brushes, even if I'd been naught/lazy and left it to dry before cleaning. Everyone has at least one bottle of white spirit in the...

    Do you really think................

To me a 'survival situation' is one where my survival hangs in the balance. In good old overcrowded Britain that's unlikely to include having to improvise snares. Being benighted on a hillwalk or surprised by inclement weather could easily become a 'survival' issue though. Terrorist attack...

What would the Police make of my/your house? (Philosphical)

Let's just say many objects, held for benign purposes, can be spun/interpreted as criminal intent. Heaven help you if you have bombmaking materials (instant cold-pack for RICE, sugar for tea, matches for fire).

    whipping/seizing cord?

I got a roll of milsurp flax twine that's real nice for whipping and fancywork. 3-lay, about 1.5mm, consistent, strong and not very hairy. It had a NSN but I threw away the packaging.
