Thanks Sean. I have some more content to add but haven't got round to it yet. Where are we thinking of meeting up? Still in Weston or not.

    Bushcrafting in Weston Super Mare

Hi Sean, I sent you a PM but I just read that you aren't sure on how to work them, so just incase I will post it here. I would really like to meet up with a like minded individual.I need to get off my backside and stop staring at a screen. I can only make weekends due to work. The next three...

    Solar still not for desert

Yeah I heard about that too. I think RM mentioned it on the first program of the new series. You would loose more water in sweat and on your breath than what you will gain from it. Strange thing is quite a lot of survival books/resources seems to keep mentioning it as a efficient source of water.

    Bushcrafting in Weston Super Mare

I would be up for a meet sometime. I live about half hour away from Weston. It would be good to meet up with other like minded people as I havent been able to attend any meets this year due to other commitments.

    Ezelap sharpening stone

Now thats a good idea weaver. Quite simple in effect but not necessarily something I would of thought of, allows me to use the honing guide as well until I get better. I think I'll knock something up for that.

    Ezelap sharpening stone

I second that. :D I've already got a honing guide but one of the chippies i was working with said thats one way to cause your stone to dish. I asked him what stone he uses to sharpen his tools. His reply was oilstones, hes had the same ones for over 15 years and he says they are still as flat as...

    Ezelap sharpening stone

Some food for thought there, and useful information regarding the usage of the waterstones. The thing is there are so many stones to choose from and and they all have their pros and cons. But I have definitely decided on getting some wet and dry. Then its just a matter of deciding on what honing...

    Ezelap sharpening stone

Thanks for the info guys, I think thats pretty much ruled out the ezelap stone. Again its the quality vs price trade-off. I think I will get some wet and dry paper for now and see what I can achieve with that. Then I will buy a finer stone of some sort. 2 questions about the waterstones...

    Ezelap sharpening stone

I have been looking to buy a decent diamond or ceramic sharpening stone, for honing. The ezelap stone I come across isn't cheap but isn't one of the most expensive either. It is priced at £60 and available from http://www.chronos.ltd.uk/acatalog/DOUBLE_SIDED_EZELAP_STONES.html I was looking at...

    What Camera?

I use a Canon IXUS 850is. A great compact camera, very sharp photos. Good selection of manual features. Although I would like something with more optical zoom. I also use a Manfrotto 785b tripod which I like a lot. It is a brilliant travel tripod, around a kilo in wieght and it folds down...

    New Bushy!

Thats it then, I have made my mind up. An Enzo blade it will be. Its good to hear about a product before buying. The low price is also swaying in its favour, cheaper than the Fallkniven F1 blade I was looking at. Seeing as its only my second knife I dont want to spend a huge amount. I need to...

    New Bushy!

Nice looking knife, I like the contrast between the scales and the liners. What do you think of the Enzo blade? I was looking at getting a enzo or a frosts full tang blade so a opinion on the enzo would be good.

    estwing axe

I have heard that the axes are good for general splitting. However if you wish to use the axe for finer work then it is quite uncomfortable, as the metal shaft is awkward to hold. But there again it depends what you want to use it for.

    Trees and their uses

I know its my own website but I have started to compile a database of information relating to tree/wood uses and general bushcraft. http://bcd.awardspace.info/ (it wont work without the http:// prefix). I started the website after a similar thread to this which I cant find at the mo. If I find...

Mushroom ID please :) (a bit pic heavy)

Some nice photos there dwardo. I researched the giant polypore as I found something similar on Sunday. The giant polypore will turn black on the underside once it has been touched, whether that will help you narrow your search or not. What was the underside of the 2nd fungi like? Never seen...

    Bushmoot !!

Thoroughly enjoyed the moot, it was a great 5 days. Everyone there was so friendly and willing to share their knowledge. The workshops were very good but it was just awkward choosing which workshop to do, with so many to choose from. Spark

Sun Run, anybody going to be there?

Yes I'm going as well. I have heard it is good from other people who have been. I am a Sun Run virgin though so its all new to me. I am going with my explorer unit Killkenny, btw i am an explorer not a leader. Are there any fancy dress requirements this time round? Spark
