V12 outdoor have cosmetic 2nds Prowires - 36g at £3.50 plus £2.75 postage. They were once the lightest in the dmm range. Now a whole 10g heavier than the teeny weeny phantoms.
Axminster tools have double-sided waterstones for £22.45.
I think (my memory is a little hazy) that Dave Budd suggested the 250/1000 would be the more useful of the 2 (the other option is 1000/6000), then finishing with a strop.
Outside have some Wild Country Wildwire quickdraws for £10 (looks like free postage). V12 Outdoor has some DMM Prowire krabs (cosmetic seconds) for £3.50
Since when is a Karrimor Sabre a lightweight option?
What happened to the belt (it is just a stabilising belt rather than a load bearing hip belt on the smaller models isn't it?)?
My point in starting this thread was that folks should be bothered - I was after some guidance on sensible dimensions/file sizes.
Linking to pictures that you have gone to the trouble of uploading some but couldn't be bothered to resize to something more appropriate for the web seems, well...
Great stuff guys.
It would seem it's perfectly feasible to post large, good quality images that come in close 100kb in size (maybe less).
The 'Pictures and photos: how do I post them?' thread mentions a maximum picture size of 600px by 600px, but that is just for pictures to to uploaded to and...
Thanks. I'm obviously not making myself entirely clear though (nothing new there).
Can anyone state (with something to back it up)
'please don't link to pictures more than xxxx by xxxx and bigger than xxxx - they will be slow to download and will look just as good at a smaller size, xxxx is an...
I don't have photoshop and have typically just resized (to no more than 800 pixels wide) and saved at 75% quality any images I've uploaded.
Again, I was hoping someone more savvy that me could write a quick 'how to', with suggested image dimensions/file sizes.
As an example, Wayland's Snowball...
Just opened one of the 'out and about threads' and noticed the page took a while to load. The post included a dozen or so photos.
I saved one of the images and noticed it was about 700kb. This seems rather big to me - not everyone is on unlimited download allowances.
As a quick test I resized...
An unseasonal sale of a winter sleeping bag.
Bought this in the winter but didn't get around to using it. It has been stored loose since purchase.
Red outer, grey inner, centre zip.
Yours for £105 (posted) - payment by cheque or bank transfer
The cheapest online price I can see these is...
Comparing the Exped Downmat and (standard) Thermarest Neoair doesn't seem a like-for-like comparison.
What about the Synmat Ultralight?
Synmat (medium)
183 x 52 x 7
474g
3.5
Neoair (regular)
183 x 51 x 6.3
396g
2.5
I've just spent the weekend on mine. It doesn't feel a robust as the...
Gone off Merrell shoes. They all seem to to have too much padding; I rather have something that would dry quicker.
They also to seem to be heading down the 'fashion shoes' more than I'd like. It's so damned annoying that most high street shops (cotswold, blacks, go-outdoors) stock mostly tnf...
You'd not be in halls for long - 3 terms will fly by in the blink of an eye - and surely you'd be better placed to access other, non academic services and facilities offered.
Field and trek has got the Wild Country Zephyros 1 and 2 at the moment. These are similar to the Laser Comps but heavier - have a look on outdoorsmagic for an owners thread.
