    Victorinox Forester awl problems

I've been wiggling it about hoping it will ease, but it hasn't happened yet. I'll give it a bit more time. The knife only arrived today, so it still has the factory oil on the joints, so lack of lube shouldn't be a problem.

    Victorinox Forester awl problems

I've just got myself a Victorinox Forester knife, and whilst I am generally happy with it I am having some problems getting the awl out of it. My thumbnail just isn't strong enough to lift it out of the slot on the back of the knife. If I use a screwdriver I can get the awl out, and once out it...

They're really rather good! Better than I could manage even though I'm not awaiting surgery.

    Exotac-style repair kit

Nothing wrong with taking a bit of inspiration from something expensive, and producing a much cheaper "tribute"! Excellent work. Sent from my Nokia T20 using Tapatalk

    Rehandling great-grandpa's cleaver

Nice job! Totally agree that Holly is a joy to turn, but it is difficult keeping it looking pristine and pale, so staining the handle was probably the correct choice.

    Craft knife

The handle is made of two halves, with a shallow shelf milled into one half (router, end mill and some creative fixturing). Then the two halves were soldered together. I don't think I could have done it any other way, not with the tools I have at my disposal.

    Craft knife

Unfortunately this will remain a unique piece. Many hours went into it, so even if my time was at a heavily discounted rate it would be stupidly expensive. Plus the cost of brass has gone up significantly in the last year. Sorry that I can't help.

    Opinel pouch

Nice work! The coloured stitching really adds something special.

    Tweezers pouch

The little vinyl pouch that came with my tick tweezers has seen better days. The hooked ends of the tweezers would poke out of the bottom of the case, and this didn't make for the most comfortable pocket carry. So with some scraps of veg tan leather I made a new pouch. Not the biggest or most...

Making a new Popcan stove stand

Nice! I know that stainless steel can be a bit of a pain to work. I don't envy you drilling all those holes. But the finished stand looks very handy.
