I was just holding the first bark container I made and considering re-doing the binding... but I kind of want to leave it to so I can see how I have progressed.
I have not seen that style of sheath before, I will have to give it a go some time.

I made a other from a smaller branch but used some braided Elm bark to bind it together.
Really enjoy making these containers and always on the look out for more bark to play with.

Morning crafting with bark.
I managed to get the willow bark off in one, it was a bit touch and go at one point due to the a few knots but it released with a bit of care.
This time I had time to soak my spruce roots, and selected the straightest and most consistent length, it was a bit thicker...
Thanks. The net was done in the even when the wife was on night shift and the kids in bed, so did the odd hour or so a night when I could. Sadly I cant remember how many hours I did.
I will have to record the next one better.

Its been a while since I posted last so I thought I would share a recent bit of carving.
Over winter I spent many hours making a net with a plastic needle and netting gauge.
Using the plastic needle has helped me better understand it's function and requirements to make a net.
