Day Out beautiful in the woods.

Nice, I was sitting in the hammock in the garden yesterday and the noise from the birds was really quite loud. After awhile of laying out, they get quite bold - it seems they don't associate a lying down human with danger so hop about and carry on as if I wasn't there :). Lovely blue bells...

    Congratulation, Britain!

Well, I have no interest in the Royals, whoever they are or how old they are. I have met two, Princess Anne and Prince Charles, both were normal people. Princess Anne opened the office I work at and spent a couple of hours looking around and talking to everyone [for some reason she reminded me...

    Congratulation, Britain!

There are a couple of Archie's in the schools up here, so it's not a completely uncommon name to hear shouted up here :)

    Hammock recommendation please

I've got a TW UL [IIRC 2.4 x 1.5] and a TW UL XXL [IIRC 2.8 x 1.7]. I've also made a couple of whipped end hammocks from some ripstop my wife gave me, it is fairly heavy duty ripstop [2.6 x 1.8]. I also made a very UL Hammock which is just big enough for me - I was test to see how far I could...

    Wanted: winter underblanket

I got a 3/4 down UQ from blueskylavander quite a few years ago as an Xmas present. IIRC it was about 100 quid. Packs good and small light and warm for what it is. It was a 'twilight' model. Another member on here is selling some of his gear off ( I think his user name is tom) he has a full...

How much are women able to carry?

Surely you don't want either you or your blow up doll to be too knackered by the end of the hike to relax and enjoy yourself...?

    Depressing.

You do have the right to photograph anything in public anyway, you do not need to be given this right. Weather other people believe you and how narky they get is another thing... anyway if I was a woman [well this answer stands for either gender really] I'd want to carry the least weight...

How much are women able to carry?

Yes, I was wondering which way it would go. Expecting some to do more, or others to do less? - maybe it'll be a mix of both... It may also be a more 'per job' basis if you do a more demanding specailased role then you have to be more competent?

    Bury or burn?

There is a new small shop opened up near me, supplying local growing fruit and veg, paper bags, or bring your own containers. Business seems to be running well for them. £25 veg box made up has been enough for a family of 5 for a week.

How much are women able to carry?

For some reason recently I've had a couple of fitness videos pop up in my youtube feed. A couple of women trying the US Army physical fitness test = 2 mins of situps, 2 mins of pushups then a 2 mile run. Depending on age and sex there are different requirements [I didn't know this until now -...

    YouTube Milestone

Nice one. I've been toying with trying to setup a youtube myself but there's always other stuff which needs doing, that and I don't really do anything interesting enough for other people to watch!

    Depressing.

If I find somewhere untidy, I'll leave it better than when I found it. I frequently do this at play parks, while my kids are playing I'll quietly go round and pick up the inevitable bits of rubbish that are lying around.

    Traditional Hide Coracles

Must admit I didn't read it all, but the pictures were awesome. Looks like a fantastic project. I've been toying with making a kayak using a skin [tarp] on frame construction.
