During 2023 I bought 3 pairs of boots all of which turned out to be a disappointment.
I wanted a light weight boot for dry and easy walking - they all failed within weeks due to wear exposing hollow heels

This knife started as a raw blade (Ground by the late Bob Engnath) based on a Bob Loveless design. (for more about Bob Engnath and his work see here http://www.engnath.com/drwframe.htm)

I always look forward to seeing the first Summer visitors in my area.
As usual, Chiffchaffs were the first to arrive. I saw a couple on Friday (25th)
Anyone seen a Swallow yet?
A couple of weeks ago my daughter bought a Swedish Army Gas Mask Bag off Ebay.
She wasn't happy with the overall condition of it so gave it to me to use. My wife suggested that I used the design for a leather shoulder bag. Here's the result made from tan camel leather and olive calfskin.
During this Summers Grouse beating season, we have more than our fair share of wet days. On these wet days, I have been amazed how many of the gamekeepers and regular beaters were wearing these Schoffel jackets. I asked around and most wearers said they mostly kept dry, even after several hours...

Saw my first Swallow yesterday, and a few Willow Warblers just in. Exactly the same date as last year.
Also saw a pair of Common Sandpipers on a local reservoir.
Most of all I am pleased to find this nest in the garden - she is sitting tight and just watches as we pass by.
