    M77 Norwegian army boots sizing

Do they have insoles in them? For colder weather you want space for 2 layers of thicker socks or an extra felt insole.

    Foraged teas

Meadowsweet flowers are delicious, and are out at the moment. Pine needles are good all year round. Have a batch of Rosebay willowherb fermenting at the moment. The leaves are then dried and used to make Ivan chai. It's as close to a good green tea i've ever found.

Newer Ridgeline monsoon elite 2 question

Hi all, am booked on PKs forest hunter course later this year and wanted to get a new waterproof jacket. Have been looking at the newer Ridgeline Monsoon Elite 11 smock, does anyone have any experience with it. I know the older ones were proper hotboxes and hung onto the water on the outer...

    Thinking of getting a trangia

Took the good lady out for dinner the other evening. Goulash, mushroom mash, vino and a beautiful view of Pen Y Fann and Hay bluff. It was so lovely and quiet and the stove just purred away happily, no noise, no fuss.

Preparing thread for leather working. The Wayland Method.

Very interesting. Do you use this method for all your stitching? With having 2 threads per needle, how does it look with a saddle stitch?

    Leather

Neats foot oil does wonders for softening and restoring leather, but on a knife sheath it can over soften the leather if you use too much, as you need to keep a bit of rigidity.

    Thinking of getting a trangia

I've used Trangias on and off for years. Yes, they have pros and cons, just like everything else on the market. They are heavy, slow to boil and bulky. but, they are quiet, you can cook a wide range of proper meals on them (just have a look at RMs new wildfood cook book). I still use mine when...

    Mushroom and newt ID

From description alone, it is almost impossible to give you a positive ID. If you can get pics, of top, underside, stem and general location (ie, if it was in a feild, or under a certain tree), folk may be able to give you more of an idea of what you're finding.

Current issue mess kits (lack of info?)

I've been using the swedish M40 kit for several years now for day bimbles etc. it really is a nice simple piece of kit, not too large and can be used with an open fire where allowed. Have been experimenting with using different bio fuels, as opposed to meths, but most seem pretty similar in...

    Chaga? ID

As said above, break a little off and see if it's rust coloured inside. From your pics, i have my doubts it's chaga, especially so far south. The furthest south i've found it (so far) is near Maclesfield.
