    Newbie hammock questions

You can make a short continuous loop with a bit of paracord for each end of your hammock. You then use a karabiner to attach these to the knotted webbing straps. The karabiners act as drip points.

North Wood meet 24~26 July 2020 a few pictures.

Thanks for all your hard work over the years Steve. It's been a pleasure and privilege to spend time at North Wood. Although we have moved away now, we will drop in on Lords Wood from time to time. Greg & Ali

    Mid Wales meet October 2020?

We may well be interested in this. I would have thought though that for a group meet the land owners permission or an official site might be a good idea. It's easy to stealth camp on your own but not so easy in a group. Greg

North Wood meet 24~26 July 2020

We may be up for this last meet. We will be down in Pembrokeshire from 22-24 on a Craig Evans coastal foraging experience. It would be a good journey up to North Wood from there, but it would be nice to catch up. The lockdown restrictions are easing for us in Wales next Monday.

North Wood Farewell Meet 26 -28 June 2020

We would love to attend, but Wales is still in lockdown at the moment. Have fun and say goodbye to the trees for us.

    ash dieback

Fingers crossed. The tree is now sprouting new leaves on most branches. As yet, no sight of them wilting or turning black.

    ash dieback

My neighbour also has a single ash tree that's infected.

    ash dieback

Thanks for that. One of the first things I did when we moved in was to fit a bat box on the tree. We do like to encourage wild life. Very happy here though in Wales. Best thing we ever did :)

    ash dieback

Unfortunately one of the trees at our new property is a rather poorly Ash. Its a grand old tree with a base diameter in excess of 1m We moved into this house in early March, just before the lockdown started. As you would expect the trees were bare but soon started to produce pollen and early...

    Inbetween insulation

Foam or inflatable mats do tend to move about between the layers. The other alternative is a second hand underblanket or one from DD or snugpak. Will cost you a few quid, but money well spent in my opinion. I tried the alternatives but there sometimes more trouble than their worth. Its hard to...

    Back garden birds.

Thanks I sit motionless for an hour or more at a time to get these. I have built a makeshift hide from an old tarp, but it seems to make little difference. It's easy to get them to come to the feeders, just not so to get them to perch where I want them. On a side issue, picking up the dropped...

North Wood Farewell Meet 26 -28 June 2020

We would like to attend one last time. It all depends on if they relax the restrictions any more here in Wales. If we cant make it, say hello to the wood from us and give a few trees a hug and thanks. Greg & Ali
