Hello :)
Having completed the masters degree in bushcraft at the University of Cumbria, I am continuing on to PhD level.
Areas that I am researching include the ways in which bushcraft presents the natural world to participants.
Would there be any interest from members potentially taking part...
oh indeed. It has been fascinating and has helped me develop a new kind of practice that I doubt would have been available to me otherwise ;). Why do you think it sounds fishy?
I am on the course.
It is not about skill progression certainly, it is more concerned with understanding the origins, contemporary use and exploring new lines of inquiry for bushcraft from different cultural and philosophical perspectives.
I can confirm, Dr Fenton is just phenomenal and her work on bushcraft, both in her own writing and through the Master's degree pathway in Bushcraft, is just wonderful :)
The Masters is not about the industry, or skills per say, but the philosophical and theoretical contexts available through the assemblage of experiences available through it.
It looks at areas such as environmental anthropology, ethnobiology and colonialism for example.
One area I will be...
It is a Masters either fulltime (1 year) or Part time (2 years). Each module has 5 days worth of lectures/off-off site sessions and there are then 4-5 weeks of follow up tutorials/reading/practice/paper writing, with a dissertation due also for the whole programme.
Hi :)

I have just been accepted onto a Masters programme at the University of Cumbria, following their new Bushcraft pathway.
There are sure to be a number of areas that it would be really interesting to hear about...
