Why have Fallkniven changed the DC4?

I suppose it depends, but my set up (as per Uncle Ray) is 800, 1200, 6000. I do usually go up to 6000, as I like that sharpness for carving, etc. Back to topic, I suppose this in part explains the difference in opinion: if you are looking for quick and functional sharpness on a knife normally...

Why have Fallkniven changed the DC4?

I’m sure that’s right, as I’d happily live there. But the point remains: sharpening out a ding or similar happens with full-sized waterstones once I’m back from the woods. For the (normally) few days I’m there, stropping regularly does most of the work, and the CC4 otherwise. This applies to...

Why have Fallkniven changed the DC4?

I only carry the CC4. Unless you are beating the hell out of your knife and wish to aggressively reprofile the bevel while in the woods, there really is no need for a pocket diamond sharpener.

    Alternatives to ventile?

I have a Country Innovations double ventile jacket (the Rover II), and it has never let me down in the rain yet. Like @John Fenna, I pair it with wool underneath. For bushcraft, infinitely prefer this over any other solution I have ever tried.

Value of an Alan Wood Woodlore?

Thanks, @trashcanman1984. The ‘magic’ number for my home contents policy is £1000 (all individual items at that value and above have to be listed), so I think it probably makes sense for me to add it on that basis, just to be on the safe side. And thanks - I’ve had quite a few knives over the...

Value of an Alan Wood Woodlore?

Thanks, @Mesquite. No paperwork, just the knife and sheath. I can’t be sure of age, but the narrower handle suggests it’s early, I think - maybe mid-90s. As for condition, do you need to see more photos?

    Hello!

I like most fishing, but particularly coarse fishing (float) and also fly fishing for trout. I used to do sea fishing too, but living in Birmingham has kind of put paid to that!

Value of an Alan Wood Woodlore?

Hello all, I have an early Alan Wood Woodlore, with original sheath. It’s in pretty good condition - see photos. My question: what might be the value of this nowadays? (I’m wondering whether it might be close to needing specific insurance, rather than being covered by my contents policy.)...

    Hello!

I thought I should introduce myself, as I’m new here. I’ve been bushcrafting for about 20 years, so generally I know what I’m doing, but there’s still so much for me to learn. I am in Birmingham, though I grew up in Kent, and spent most of my time in the outdoors. Apart from bushcraft, my...
