    A Knife of Wrath

Not that it would stop me from owning or using it (it seems to be a pretty cool, useful knife), but under the ridiculous new laws, wouldn’t this be called a “zombie knife” because it has two holes in it?

    Night Classes.

I used to do quite a few in my youth, in the 80s, there was always a fine assortment and as I was unemployed, free. I recently tried to find a creative writing or an advanced photography but could find nothing. I guess council defunding has put paid to most, I mean, they can’t even afford to fix...

Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

I ended up getting one of the open stove stands and a cup, both original army ones, kidney shaped. Couldn’t get an original lid or the heavy metal one that I believe fits, so got a reproduction lid. Problem is, it forgot fit properly, so I think I’m going to have to go with a replica cup and...

Withdrawn POST OFFICE DESTROYING KNIFE - THE END !!!

Back in the day, carbon copy paper was said to block x-rays, can’t see it myself though (no pun intended, lol!). Talk about a surveillance state, plus they’re just a private company nowadays. A horrible state of affairs!

    What did you buy today?

It reminds me of the salt tang you get in Manzanilla Sherry from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, due to it’s greater proximity to the sea than Fino from Jerez (spent a wonderful week there visiting the Soleras, where they produce it. I was surprised to find it drunk with meals, rather than an aperitif...

    What did you buy today?

Can highly recommend: Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70 cl | Sherry Finish. At the moment, it’s £40 for 70cl, it was £36 something when I bought a bottle a couple of weeks ago, but really nice if you like the Islay whiskys

Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

I think the strong wind was directing all the heat to one side, through vent holes. I much prefer the sort that are open at the top, the tbs one stops a lot of the heat reaching the bottom of the cup.

Voluntarily handing in a large blade to the UK police

Captain Mainwaring:): I grew up with it, my dad’s all time favourite comedy, he would be sputtering, rolling in laughter. Still have all the episodes on DVD that he’d bought. I think it was that it was his era that also gave it appeal.

    Sold Webley Hurricane .22

I had the Tempest in .177 back 1980 loved it but foolishly sold it about 20 years ago along with my Sheridan Blue Streak (absolute idiot, paired with the Williamson’s peep sight it was pin point accuracy), was very tempted by this but already bought a Mk1 in .22, would like another .177 for the...

Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

The cup has been great, but the stove stand warped the first time I used it, I had hexi tablets burning in it on a very windy day. Really should have sent it back but left it too long.

Voluntarily handing in a large blade to the UK police

To be frank, I personally think asking any police officer would be a complete waste of time, you won’t get an honest answer. The number of posts I’ve read, on various platforms of someone being told complete and utter rubbish regarding the legality of a knife they own by a policeman who is also...

    Costal foraging laws and etiquette

How about glasswort, I live near the river Lune estuary and have, in the past, foraged it. Sadly, like so many rivers, there have recently been floating scum of sewage just by the pumping station that is about a mile or two upriver from where I used to get it. Does anyone know if it would still...

    Sold Larry Chew Cujo flipper

I’m pretty sure that now, they are sadly, illegal to own outright, where as formerly, if it was an heirloom, or a historical purchase by someone when they were legal (my father had one but although I still have it, the spring broke a long time ago so is now classed as a lock knife), they were...

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

Brilliant! I hadn’t heard of Bing. The ordnance survey layer seems to work on my iPhone, you can change the browser from mobile to desktop, so happy days. Thank you! :)
