    Plans for the Year Ahead

Honestly I have become to old to plan, having learned that life is going to throw a stick in the wheels anyway. And as if to prove my thesis.... I landed a new job last week, which was neither planned nor sought, but offered.

    Life/Perspective changing books or inputs

You mean Dawkins being an evangelist for atheism? Even atheism is a beliefsystem from the very beginning. It left me with more questions than answers. His reasoning had many holes and inconsistencies.

    Life/Perspective changing books or inputs

Richard Dawkins' "The God delusion" did that, albeit that it propelled me in the exact opposite direction. It excellerated my quest to find answers and lead me to massively read up on subjects I hitherto had little to no interest in. A second one is Stephen Jenkinson's "Die wise, a manifesto for...

So whos getting lots of snow, and who's out in it?

-3C, +15cm of lose, powdery snow and high winds... I am in, out of it!! Plus another 20cm predicted until saturday, but then the winds die down.

    Spiritual connection to nature

Is it spiritual? Or is it biological, evolutionary, psychological? Something we have been utterly disconnected from, but desperately need for our entire wellbeing?

    No heat instant/emergency food?

I do not leave home without some sausages and some mueslibars or snickers, preferably the latter. Sausages give the energy (fat and protein) needed to keep going, snickers give a moral boost and some extra carbs.

Trip Report One night hot tenting in the woods

Nice! Cool pictures, but I do not see any cold ones? No frost? Perhaps my frame of references is a bit different.

    Are you a GEARDO?

Nope. Not anymore. I confess I had a lot; all the gear to fully equip a family of 5 up to and including large military tent with stove & fieldcots. I also had a lot of gear left over from my search for the right gear for me. Plus a bunch of military surplus gear. I sold it all! I am down to 1...

    So who grows things?

Now here's a weird thing! You quoted me, but I never wrote that! It is not my post.

    Essential life saving skills.

And I would add proper reading, writing and calculus skills plus real critical thinking. Grow a thicker skin, learn to accept opposing views and scrap that blasted victimhoodcult.

    Dutch canteen cup (systems)?

I had no such luck, as I tried that once, but those steel mugs are so damn tough that I ruined my grinder. But I must damit that it was a) an original cold war(1980's mug and b) a dremelgrinder. I have said mug with an extra lid inside my Swedish cookset. Fits like a glove.

    Essential life saving skills.

I learned to use the S.T.O.P.-acronym... Stop Think Observe Plan ... and then act.

    Essential life saving skills.

Personally I think we should train the mindset first, expand awareness. Starting with situational awareness for the young ones and how to raise the alarm/call for aid. First aid is not within their grasp yet. Might be rather traumatising too. From ages 12 and throughout the teens one could...

How would you fix the Homeless crisis.?

Before you could begin to asnwer such a question, you'd have to differentiate between voluntary and involuntary homelessness and in the latter category for instance between those that can and will take care of themselves (bad luck, divorce, bankrupcy etc.) or can not or will not take care of...

What do you want to have on Bushcraft UK?

On the other hand, it also adds a hinder for non-full members to add content to this place, limiting interaction and interest. It makes it less attractive , which might lead to people being less inclined to stick around and become paying members.

Day Out Rainy day in the woods

Love it! Sure do miss deciduous woods and I do need to go and practice my 1-match-fire-drill again.

    What are your weekend plans?

Well, I had planned to get some creative juices flowing, but ended up splitting wood and resupply the firewood stores. At least some outdoorsy time was had. Now I am taking a break from catalogueing and ordering my library... which was long overdue.

    So who grows things?

I used to (try), but I can no longer work the soil, weed to even cut the grass in one go. Or suffer the consequences from it for days. we still have a good number of fruittrees and berrybushes, though. But sadly this year's yield got completely spoiled by mould after harvest. And the cherries...
