    Vehicle tool kit

I keep a couple of ammo tins in the vehicle, the first has been modified with socket rails fitted to the inside of the lid. When required the lid is removed and inverted so all the sockets are accessible and in easy reach, it also has extension bars clipped to it. Inside the box are various...

Bushcraft Show 2024-how was it for you?

We just got home from the show, went for the full weekend. We last went 2 years ago and it seemed bigger this year but I was a little disappointed the overland section was a lot smaller. Didn't really buy much but it was a great social event with friends old and new.

The grills etc from TJM Metalworks seem quite popular but I've not used one myself. https://www.tjmmetalworks.co.uk/shop

    Beekeeping for beginners

Some people can, I've kept bees for 25 years however 3 and a half years ago I got stung and went into anaphylactic shock and had to give it up. At the time I was managing in excess of 20 colonies. I start a three year course of desensitization on Thursday.

    Alexa

My in-laws have one and after a few drinks I had a funny thought and quietly asked Alexa to put dil*o's on the shopping list. Luckily they have a very good sense of humor.

Is that a typo or are you really asking £100?

What’s on your keyring (and do you use it?)

I have have a car key and house key on mine plus a small leather strap that's been on my key ring about 25 years. I tend to keep it minimalistic as I hate bulky keys in my pocket and I've replaced quite a few worn out ignition barrels for people who keep a lot of stuff on their key rings.

Tools at the heart of the home/homestead - power tools!

I have a lot of Dewalt XR kit but have recently been investing in Milwaukee which seems to be of better quality. I'm quite fortunate that the company my wife works for are retailers for Milwaukee so we get very good prices. My chainsaws are all Stihl.

    Floods (Oct 20th ‘23)

    We have a 200Tdi 90 and a 300Tdi 110. It's the 90 that's being converted. The 110 is in storage at the moment.

101 uses for a set of drain rods...

And also handy for cable tying a knife too to reach that high up chicken of the woods. Good idea with the dreys too, I'll be using that. Normally it's the first barrel for the drey and the second for the squirrel

    Mushroom ID assistance

I hadn't intended to eat them as I couldn't positively ID them. There were quite a lot in the field but many had been squashed by the horses. I picked these to take home to cross reference with my books and see what people here thought. It more about expanding my knowledge than filling my stomach.

    Mushroom ID assistance

No staining or colour change at all and I've probably got the worst sense of smell ever to tell if they smell (I'll ask the wife later)

    Mushroom ID assistance

Hi All, I was out on the farm earlier and one of the workers said there were a few puffballs in one of the fields. I went to take a look with bacon, egg and puffball on my mind but immediately found it wasn't to be. What I think they are is immature horse mushrooms - Agaricus arvensis. Whats...

    Chicken off the wood mushroom

I found one today driving back from a friends house. Took part of it and left the rest for someone else. Tasted lovely fried in butter with a pinch of salt and a sweet chili dipping sauce.

    Made myself a rocket stove

I didn't make it with a use in mind to be honest, it was just because I had the box section left over from a previous project and I was fed up with moving it around, The reason I used soft wood was because I wanted a fast, hot fire to test the boil time but I think it would have been too hot...

    Made myself a rocket stove

The results are in... I fired up the stove with a small fire just to cure the paint while I got on with some other jobs then hoofed it up with a few pieces of soft wood kindling. I had a little play trying to cover the feed hole but this made it smoke a lot so even with the fairly open...

    Made myself a rocket stove

Yeah defiantly, I thought I might only get a chance to build my dream workshop once so done it a best as I could. Didn't enjoy the building work so much but did enjoy fitting it out and learned a lot from the experience. It's still a working progress. I'll try and cut out a solid plate...
