Soak it in vinegar.....the mould needs 67% humidity to grow so it's always an issue, but vinegar is acidic enough to destroy the spores without making the pot unsafe for food.

I've wondered a couple of times about trying the seeds from inside peppers.

Pretty much all cotton with a nylon lining. I'd wash it too. Not hot though, because the cotton can tighten up and not relax again.....unless it's well worn and then it'll not care :)
