If there is one piece of kit that’s gone, you could bring back what is it ?

100%! There’s hope one might pop up second hand sometime.

Two decades evidence of Birch tapping.

If you think about a maple dropper tip, the diameter is only about 8mm. It makes far more sense to take a few of those with you and just let the holes do their thing once you’ve finished. That is if your thinking of collecting anything more than a cup full as you say.

Tools or techniques commonly frowned upon, but you do it anyway

I sometimes use a drill as a hammer… or a wrench, pliers, screwdriver, block of wood, bandsaw… Basically anything as a hammer! :burnout:

Deepsea Fishing ... from a rig

That sounds awesome! I couldn’t imagine fishing from an oil rig. In my mind they’re hundreds of meters above the water are they not? Definitely get some photos I for one as very intrigued.

Advice sought re. located Optimus No.96 pressure leak

Have you tried wrapping some ptfe tape around the screw thread? It could be either worn thread or some dirt in the thread, I don’t believe there is a gasket that goes in there as far as I can remember but I’ll check one of my stoves later. Or possibly the clever use of a fibre washer? Hmmm

    First aid kit

Any REC level 2/Outdoor first aid would be the course I’d reccomend. It’s what we as outdoor professionals have to have as a bare minimum. It’s a qualification in its self and is quite in depth, but it’s a very doable course designed around people in the outdoors with limited kit. You’ll also...

    Axminster tools

They’re pretty good. I’ve got a few things from them, definitely more on the DIY end of the scale but better than buying from the middle aisle. :-)

Leather reconditioning - any leather workers got recommendations?

Everyone will have their preference on looking after leather. What John has said above is the main thing to remember… I would also have a look at this channel I find it very interesting and have learned heaps about looking after boots.

    Stress Relief

There’s a pretty good driving range near me that is really nice when it’s raining. I’ve no clue about golf but whacking balls really really far seems to be a bit of a therapy of late. Mostly because it’s been too cold and wet for fly fishing.

    Blackbird alternative??

That could well be a young male blackbird. They stay brown through winter until mating season where the colours come through and the beak turns yellow.

    Any gamers on here?

Have you had a go yet mate? I did a couple of hours last night and it’s still as good as ever.

    Any gamers on here?

My nephew is certainly way more hyper and intense when he’s been playing computer games. I’m sure it’s not the case for all, and most probably depends on how much time an individual spends. Sparring is high speed though, opposed to more low key activities. I’d be interested to see if there are...

    Any gamers on here?

Probably because most Fortnite players are young children who haven’t got a clue what they’re doing. I tried it a few times, it’s just full of kids! Not for me at all. As for the thousand miles per hour thing I really don’t think that is healthy for young people in terms of processing and...

You will not be disappointed! +1 for wild lands too that’s a bloody epic game!

    Any gamers on here?

I use my Xbox every day. It’s how we stream all our media. Similarly to Chris I go though phases of playing games, I do find I get bored of most them fairly easily now. However…. I thoroughly enjoyed red dead redemption and I think that’s probably the game of the century and will take some...
