The "woolly pully" wool vs acrylic

I used to have an acrylic one which I quite liked, but have had wool versions for the last many years. Excellent bits of kit, which as said before, can be found cheaply on ebay, or from surplus stores. Slightly OT, but I got one of these for my birthday last year, and was so pleased with it...

    Binoculars: 8x or 10x?

I've got a set of these: http://www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/Bushnell12x42AW-37.htm Not bad at all for the money. I don't find the 12x magnification to be a handicap. I'm planning on upgrading slightly soon though, and am considering Vortex Diamondback 10x42 as my next set. They'r about £200...

Could I have become allergic to forests.

I'd definitely suggest talking to your GP. If it is an allergy, and you have to take antihistamines, be aware that taking them can increase the risk of hypothermia if you're out in the cold.

Hike and Camp - How much weight is too much?

Some of the 'ultralight' treckers get it down to about 6kg or so, I think they're very selective about what they bring along though. For most of us mere mortals 15kg is pretty respectable. http://gizmodo.com/a-gear-geeks-guide-to-ultralight-backpacking-1577128269

    Ventile "SAS" style jacket

I like the look of that. Just did an image search and found out who makes it, and how much it costs. Nice, but a bit out of my price range. Any ideas on how much a limited run of ventile smocks would cost?

Wild camping tent and wild camping

Sorry didn't see this before I posted. That does make it a bit more of a challenge. Wild camping on a semi permanent basis, and holding down a job at the same time, might be a bit harder than I'd like. What about a caravan?

Wild camping tent and wild camping

If it were me, I think I'd follow Squidders' advice. Maybe something like this? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4091902/Woman-quits-office-job-spends-500-turning-minivan-home-travel-world-rescue-dog.html

Mobile charging without access to electricity - What are the options?

Thanks for the ideas guys. Some good suggestions for power banks, and solar rechargeable ones too, and I must admit that the Biolite stove looks very intriguing as well..

Mobile charging without access to electricity - What are the options?

What do you guys do to charge your mobiles when you're a few days away from being able to plug your charger into the wall? Obviously, part of the attraction to the outdoorsy lifestyle is getting away from all that, but even so sometimes a phone can be very handy. I've heard about solar...

Just sarting out - hammock recommendations??

Hope it's okay to tag my question onto this thread, as I'm in a similar position to the OP. Has anyone here tried this hammock? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nitehawk-Portable-Jungle-Parachute-Hammock-With-Mosquito-Net-Military-Bushcraft-/361570018803?hash=item542f40a5f3:g:GqsAAOSwRQlXdm3N

Looking for a new smock: Are these any good?

Yes, that's the ones. How annoying that they'd used the wrong photo, I was about two seconds from buying one from them, when I noticed the lack of pockets.

Looking for a new smock: Are these any good?

Time for an update. I eventually decided against the model I linked to originally, as I like the zip chest pockets and this model didn't have them. I ordered one from Helikon instead, which will hopefully be arriving sometime soon.

Looking for a new smock: Are these any good?

Thanks. They do look quite good, but I really need a bit more pocket capacity.
