Having been involved with the cubs for awhile and weasled my way onto a couple of camps with the scouts as an extra hand, you can see some of the little irks you've had to put up with become reasonable young people, and then feel some pride in having influenced them into becoming reasonable...
I've been told its 8 for indoor activities and 6 for outdoor [this is for cubs, I believe the numbers change for beavers and scouts...]

I'm in exactly the same boat, but with cubs. That was five years ago now, and my third child is just about to pass up to scouts. I try to get out with the scouts on their camps too as it's just some outdoor time for me as much as anything else.

Well to be fair he didn't say he was at work, maybe he's retired, or on holiday??? - working on a farm, fallen over with a broken leg, or maybe just busy...
@Ogri the trog, I've more than a few tarps, one of which a DD and more sleeping bags than I can wave a pointy stick at, one of which a jerven. I was still watching this thread though!
