    Yup. got mine via eBay from someone in Northern Ireland. Has the Micarta handle so not as pretty but I was, and am, well chuffed. Don't think anyone else bidded for it :)

    My GFs son dropped his brand new Scout model firesteel onto my kitchen floor, snap, and he had two pieces. Good for practising with. and no,it wasn't a stone floor or anything like that, I guess they're just brittle.

    Look on eBay for a cheap ex-army one, or maybe an army surplus store, don't spend a lot of money. Get out there with it, learn how to use it by trial, error, and reading the web. First one I used was actually a camping ground sheet, heavy as anything and my bivi bag stuck out the other end, but...

    Good try :) . I do have Jardine's book, Townsend's handbook and his walk across Alaska as well. Fletcher's book is on my wishlist.... although buying books is not a great option at the moment... :(
