    greg2935, Thanks! That's what I was wondering about...if the cotton thread (even Ventile thread?) will rot. I did have a suspicion that nylon or polycotton thread might "cut" the ventile fabric but thanks for confirming this..I'll check for a thread with a nylon core and outer cotton...

    Purifying Water Long Ago..How?

    Very interesting info. Stuart, I do remember hearing about the silver coins in water and milk.supposedly in north america to kill germs and keep milk fresh. Apparently the older coins had a higher silver content? I thought it was a tale unril you mention how you actually observed it by natives.
