This is a video on Youtube by Wiggys. At the 6:00 minute mark he shows you the fishnet long johns and talks about them briefly. Then he shows you a second layer shirt…made out of a mesh that goes over the fishnets and talks about the concept of getting moisture away from your skin. 6:00 minute...

I have seen online the pcs mtp smocks and was looking at getting one for the outdoors as they are a lot cheaper than ventile. The material seems good-a polyester cotton mix and they seem to have pockets all over the place. Question please, has anyone successfully dyed the the camouflage...

WWII British Army String Vest…how were they originally worn?

Toddy, my condolences on your uncle's passing. Thanks for taking the time to talk to him and for providing the information from someone who was there firsthand in WWII. There's nothing like asking someone who has firsthand user experience as to how something was actually used. You are right…if...

WWII British Army String Vest…how were they originally worn?

Hammock_man, agh yes, I remember those days…one shirt on the body, one in the drawer and one in the wash. I experienced this growing up…which is why I now have a closet full of shirts! leaky5, that's interesting about the fire issue-I would suppose a string vest would keep the shirt off the...

WWII British Army String Vest…how were they originally worn?

Janne, When you used the cotton string vest, what layers were you using over it…cotton shirts then a sweater? Something that could be opened for ventilation? Activity level…hiking/working outdoors…were you able to avoid getting clammy/sweaty with the mesh vest? Thanks!

Question here… as information is not easy to find. The old British military cotton string vests used in WWII and onwards… how were they worn? Were they worn next to the skin or was it skin then a collarless shirt then the string vest under the battledress blouse? Any old timers know or ever...

The String Vest revisited… Fishnet Mesh Underwear

It seems the older type vests were made out of thicker diameter string and wider holes to aid in ventilation where as modern versions the diameter of the yarn and the spacing of the mesh has decreased.

The String Vest revisited… Fishnet Mesh Underwear

Cotton mesh: Brynje make a winter(thicker mesh) and a summer cotton mesh top. The summer cotton mesh tends to be of much smaller holes and is made in Poland with the Brynje label. The winter version has much better holes for ventilation. The cotton mesh top by Naturewild has a solid patch of...

The String Vest revisited… Fishnet Mesh Underwear

Fit: The Brynje mesh are a tight fit. Brynje seems to cut garments for very athletic/slim build so if you are thinking of trying Brynje garments you might want to size up. The mesh is supposed to fit against your skin but I find that if the fit is too close it does not feel comfortable and...
