    Broken machete

i'd lend you mine but it's already out on loan. they really are so much better than just about everything else for that sort of job, so light and effortless to use it's a joy! :lmao: and no i don't have shares in fiskars! cheers, and.

    Broken machete

shame about the blade breaking. for brambles, the way forwards is to pop down to B&Q and pick up a fiskars brush-hook. they're twice the price of your failed miniature golok, but worth every penny if you've proper work to do. they really are so far of any thing else for that sort of job...

    Borneo Parang Passaround

so who's next or where next? well these parangs are pretty cool. took them round to visit some friends the weekend, bushcrafty whallahs all. opinion was generally divided between the two, though slightly in favour of the squared off drop point. i preferred this one mostly due to the...

    Borneo Parang Passaround

stylish! the parangs turned up safe and sound, cheers red. first impressions? significantly burlier than i'd expected! when you look at the length of the cutting edge on these, compared to the position of the handle, the end result is quite similar to the nata azumigata as found over...

I want a better looking version of this homemade knife. Damascus would be nice ...

i've got the alaskan camp knife, by KOA. basically the same handle. the grooves are not as pronounced as they look in photos. the other tool that springs to mind is the russ kommer bush pilot hatchet thingy, more finger grooves i'm afraid...

http://www.knivesofalaska.com/item.asp?id=20&r=store%2Easp%3Fc%3D28 apart from the japanese stuff, the first thing that sprang to mind is this: http://www.knivesofalaska.com/item.asp?id=20&r=store%2Easp%3Fc%3D28 you can get the cleaver on it's own. D2 isn't exactly stainless, but...

    Anyone here use a KA-BAR?

quite a few of the moderating staff are quick to take the micky out of some of my apparent taste for "larger" knives. but i actually disagree with that concept. it has always seemed to me that relatively, it's generally harder to do small jobs with a big knife than the other way round. small...

    Anyone here use a KA-BAR?

the boys from natural bushcraft did a cracking review on a kabar a while back.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C-l5vRqByk&feature=related the kabar is reputed to be a development of lester? marbles' "ideal" hunting knife. perhaps it's not quite ideal really, it's not exactly a whittling...

H.E.S.T. RAT Cutlery (now ESEE Knives)

i've had loads of ESEE/RAT stuff over the years, it has all been totally excellent. without exception. cool review, shame about the bottle opener, real men don't need bottle openers. ;) cheers, and.

Passaround - Chris Caine Survival Tool

um, yeah, welcome to the forum. bit of a terse first post i thought. how about a bit of a greeting and an introduction? if you read the text accompanying the vids you'll see that the issues of both profile and "sharp" are discussed. much of the superior chopping power is attributed to...

My First Bug Out Bag :) Opinions please

:You_Rock_ the most sensible post i've read in a long time! tbh, i don't have a BOB, but i do have GOAT bag in my car. Going On A Trip, it's simply a basic backpacking set up. i once spent 11 hours stuck on the side of a road waiting for the AA to turn up with a truck big enough to...
