    Surviving the Stone Age

Missed the first episode, but caught the 2nd last night. Rather good actually. Not the normal faked drama, rather actual people with some degree of knowledge.

Lightweightish Lidl/Aldi menu for 5 days

I like the sachets of instant mash, idaho i think it's called, way better than smash, and 1 pack is 2 meals worth. That mixed with a john west tuna sachet, or knorr mini soup packets is delicious. i also mix up with pasta and packets of uncle bens rice sachets. Plus the usual crackers, cheese...

What's the best pocket /keyring torch?

I have a fenix E05, great little torch. Just sits on my keyring. Robust and long lasting, far better than the maglite solitare.

Frontier Bushcraft Woodland Hunter Course review

Hi Folks, I have just got back from a week on the above mentioned course and i thought i'd pop my thoughts on here. In a nut shell, if you have a hankering to shoot game (specifically deer), then this course is designed to give you a good grounding on what you need to know and do. It covers all...

How to make Tabasco style fermented hot sauce ️

Perfect timing (again). Just got a load of chillis fermented and was looking up hot sauce recipes. Mainly birds eye, but with a few jaleopeno as well.

    Parasol and Veiled Oyster Stroganoff

Love veiled oysters and we have so many dried parasols, that we're running out of space in the larder, kitchen shelves, floor and even the utility room. That strog looks delicious.

    More plant help needed

Hmmm, first one really bugging me now. Found something similar earlier in the year in north Wales. Just been looking through my pics and keying books and reckon it could well be Climbing Corydalis, Ceratocapnos claviculata. I'm sure someone more knowledgable will soon correct me though, lol!

    More plant help needed

Where abouts were they. Obviously under scots pine, by the look of the leaf (needle) litter. The first could possibly be a Rue of some kind and the second, young foxglove?

Fjallraven wax for a barbour jacket

The G100 isn't as thick as the Barbour wax. It will work but won't be as effective. On the plus side, it doesn't smell nearly as bad as the Barbour wax.

Frontier's Online Elementary Wilderness Bushcraft Course - anyone done it?

As far as i'm aware, the course is still going ahead, and not heard from either frontier or the guys doing the DSC to suggest anything to the contrary. The online courses are very well designed so that all throughout the year there are skills to be learnt and practiced.

Frontier's Online Elementary Wilderness Bushcraft Course - anyone done it?

This year it was just over £400 for the plant id course and just over £200 for the bushcraft course. These were the pay up front costs, but i believe he offers different payment schemes, at different prices. Also, these were this years prices so he may well change them as they have become very...

    Garphyttan

Been seeing their ads on my various feeds as well. I believe it's a company set up by Johan Scullman, an outdoor instructor who has been involved with Fjallraven for several years. He has done loads of videos on using their gear and lead their Arctic Challenge every year. As for the kit, i...

Definitely not a saffron Milk cap. They have an orange colour with green flecks, hollow stem. the milk they exude has a lovely saffron colour, (hence the name). Not sure what the OP posted though.

    Framed packs

Sorry, only just watched the 'walk in the woods", with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. The film based on Bill Brysons book of the same name about him hiking the AP. A very funny part in it is why he chose his pack, " well, it beats carrying all my stuff in my arms". Good film and an even better...

    Wood Sage???

Initial thoughts are also Wood sage. thought the seed heads may be too long, but have some in the garden and checked and they seem similar. How do the crushed leaves smell?

Frontier's Online Elementary Wilderness Bushcraft Course - anyone done it?

We are doing both the bushcraft and plant ID courses with him and have found the wealth of information and the way it is structured to be very good. As it is structured throughout the year, there is far more seasonal content than you would find on a week or even 2 week course. Also, as mentioned...

    Stove for use outside van?

i just stick with my trangia. I also have a swedish army one that's smaller, but both get the water hot and don't take up much space. No moving parts and meths and bio fuel is relatively easy to come by, even in the deepest darkest highlands.
