For my old job in maintenance I used a small Bosch 10.8v for smallish jobs that I kept in my tool box. and de walt brushless 18v for the bigger stuff like drilling holes in concrete/brick for bolts etc. Bosch was used daily, the dewalt less so.
both still running on the original batteries and...
I must say the redbacks have been a complete surprise. Going by how light weight they are and the first outing where they required no breaking in to mention, I wasn’t expecting them to last long at all. That was 6 years ago and they are still going strong today where they are used for everything...
I own several carbon Moras. Most have a zero Scandi grind now from sharpening. I’d say the carbon steel Moras are that little bit easier to get that really fine edge by sharpening / stropping than the SS garberg. The carbon requires very little Effort to sharpen - the SS needs a bit more work...
I like mine a lot more than I thought I would. Much much more in fact. I went for the stainless with multi sheath - mainly because it was the cheapest but also I already have a lot of 4” carbon scandi grind knives, mostly Moras.
It’s heft gives it a reassuring feel like it could be put to any...
I know some people out there don’t count the likes of mora, SAKs and opinels. I assume being cheap and mundane let’s them fall into some kind of a grey area where they don’t “really” need to be registered as part of the main collection.
On that basis I only own about a dozen knives - now that’s...
There is lots of high end steel out there I’ve not used but...
Mora carbon? My most commonly used steel is whatever it is Mora use in their carbon knives (1095 equivalent).
Takes a fine edge and keeps it and is easy to get back to sharp. Cheap.
80crv2 - At hrc 59 its very tough and forgiving...
My entire knife collection fits nicely into one x 18 litre plastic box. I have a total of four of theses boxes and they stack solidly on top of one another - my aim is to fill them all with knives! :D
Once I do fill them all, they will still take up significantly less space than the mrs shoe...
I was at a local retail park yesterday and visited poundstretcher on the off chance they would have something for me. Turns out they do a 400mm x 230mm cooling rack made out stainless steel. It’s a touch bigger than what I wanted but one cannot argue for £2.50. Will likely be giving it a whirl...
Cracking recommendations there, my web searches were drawing a blank for U.K. sellers for some reason. Cheers for that. I do like that Etsy, looks a beast.
Im after a small flat grill for open fire cooking. Nothing fancy just the mesh type and say Approx 12”x6” or thereabouts - just small so not like the size of a oven rack. I’ve seen some on various YouTube channels but they are sold in the US at a premium, especially once you factor in the ransom...
