    Anyone had a dental implant?

Go to the Czech Republic or Hungary - I have a friend who recently had a lot of work done in Budapest for a third of the UK cost and she stayed there for a little holiday too. She was extremely pleased with the work which involved removing some infected bone from her lower jaw and inserting...

Anyone know anything about (or seen) a wolf kill?

There are loads of people around here who could help me track stuff @Broch but unfortunately most, if not all of them are hunters and they are so cagey about people knowing what they are up to - it's like a secret club. I even asked a neighbour if he could show me a good place for finding...

    True or False

False, but I have bought a packet of sunflower seeds. It seems that the next person is wearing red socks .....

Anyone know anything about (or seen) a wolf kill?

Yes we have lynx but no bears (yet - they are close). The risk of dying in an avalanche here is high too, this week a man died in one on the mountain whilst out snowshoeing, his wife was injured but okay. Sadly, it has become normal news. Funny, I went out before dawn this morning after having...

Anyone know anything about (or seen) a wolf kill?

I've not heard any howls so if there are any wolves around there must be only one or two of them? And I remember another neighbour down the valley did tell me that she heard a lone wolf had attacked a dog near to her home. In some ways, I don't want to have conclusive evidence that it was a...

Anyone know anything about (or seen) a wolf kill?

Yes, but then where on earth to set it up? it's a big forest out there ;-) Would they come back to the same place? I just caught sight of the headline on the front of the local newspaper this evening in the supermarket - "The Wolf is coming back and the farmers are worried" so maybe its been...

where do i sign up for bushmoot august 2018?

I would say those boots are fine? I have brought wellies in the past just so I can put them on easily when I get out of my hammock first thing but I do not wear them during the day. The site is all on a foundation of sand (the second largest sand dunes in Europe no less) so there's not really...

Anyone know anything about (or seen) a wolf kill?

With all the talk about restoring the natural balance and predator reintroduction, I just thought I would ask anyone if they have any first hand experience with a wolf kill. Yesterday, my neighbour showed me where a red deer had been killed in our woods and I cannot find any other explanation...

where do i sign up for bushmoot august 2018?

I went to the BM the first year by train then taxi and it was pretty easy. Because I flew into Bristol airport I got the train to Bridgend then walked 5 minutes to the supermarket and got my supplies for the week, then got a taxi from the rank outside. It saved having to take shopping bags on...

    Drop spindle with stone weight.

that is really beautiful and should be great to use and it won't snag the wool.

Re-establishing the natural balance - UK

Beavers are a keystone species. They can irrigate valleys that have dried up and manage the land so that many other species can flourish alongside them although they have a tough time living alongside humans in America and elsewhere as they can change the course of rivers towards towns and...

    All socks are not equal.

I've done a 40 minute walk on snow in vibram five fingers before, does that count?

    All socks are not equal.

No.... I NEVER wear two pairs of socks. You need space in your shoes to keep warm air circulating around. It doesn't really matter what type of socks you have, wool, cotton, synthetic etc. they don't even have to be very thick, but they must never ever be tight (I've even been okay outside with...

BcUK Photograph of 2018 Competition February Heat Vote

Thanks, okay I'm on my laptop now. Yes, its very obvious but just to let you know that there is no poll showing up at the top of this thread on my iphone tapatalk app. Maybe that is why there have been so few votes? Not sure if the app supports polls, or whether it is my phone, but there is def...

    Field Notes cover

No my fault, I see what you mean, yes. I didn't look closely enough at first pic. It's totally beautiful with or without that stitching anyway. I wish I had room in my bag for another leather thing like this ;-) btw is that notebook a little like the waterproof ones you can get like 'rite in...

but then wouldn't the cards etc. get caught on the stitching as you pushed them in?

What do you wish you learnt from a relative?

Great idea and I totally agree with your answer Wander. This is one of the (many) reasons I homeschooled my kids, so that they would get the chance to do exactly that without any pressure. We had some really wonderful days when they were younger. No plans, no timetable, just filled with nothing...
