    Born Survivor Bear Gyrlls

I wasn't hoping for too much in tonights seris as I didn't really enjoy the last one. But I thought the 2 episodes tonight were great, far less set up and what was set up was said to be so by Bear. I thought it was good when he couldn't get the fire going using friction and went back to the...

    Natural v.s. Synthetic

Do you make those your self Wayland or do you buy the pouches, I really like them, very nice. Generally I prefer synthetics for clothing as I feel they perform better, lighter, faster drying etc..

    bush blades

Just read the article, I guess it was written in America. To be honest it is not a review of anything just this guys opinion which he is intitled to. I have 3 bush blades as he calls them and they all look like tools not weapons. There is no need IMHO to carry a large rambo type knife in the...

    What size is your pack?

I have the following: Shortback PLCE bergen DPM Karimoor Sabre 45 Berhaus munro 30 ltr 10 years old and still going strong I think the sabre is ideal, very well made and you can attach plce rocket pouches to it. Two thumbs up from me. If after a smaller day sack I would recommend the...

    finally success with sharpening.

Weaver, I have a DC3 and to be honest its a bit to small, I will look in to getting the DC4 Thanks for the advice. Barn owl you are right the thumb across the blade does seem to be a useless method (which I now realise!), its just one of those things I seem to atomatically do when handling a...

    finally success with sharpening.

Finally I can sharpen a knife properly thanks to this forum. Last week I decided as I bought some new bushy knives and my first axe I would go about learning how to sharpen correctly and this forum has been great for advice. I have been able to keep my mora and others very sharp, but I...

    Finding Areas For Bushcraft

I think H20 has a point and so do the others, If you are looking at woods that are local to you, you should ask permisson especially if its farm land. However it is not always possible to seek permission for every where you go in the country, ie if you are going for long walks in new woods...

    Personal Survival Kit contents

I think also a very good idea in bushcraft is as the clothing is normally neutral/olive/dpm a high vis vest is good to have in your bag, they are very cheap and pack small, if you are a blip on the mountain/country side would make location by SAR a bit easier. If on a big hill/mountain in...

    Personal Survival Kit contents

If you are going to quote some one, include the whole article, not the bit that suits you. I did not say you advised the use of over the counter glue, you did however inform the guy to use only Med glue to sitch himself and this is what I was picking up on. This is not ok and as some one who...

    Personal Survival Kit contents

Here we go indeed, Weaver I am glad your medical knowledge is so vast that after you have read an article on the net and pasted the info here you feel you are qulaified to hand out advice on medical issues. I believe that some Cyno type super glues do contain solvents, I believe that some...

    Finding Areas For Bushcraft

Guess I am quite lucky really, one of my dads mates owns a huge farm near me, loads of woods etc.. for me to play in, can get up to any thing I want and I know I will be safe as it is on private land, no foot paths etc.. I do have to share these woods with pheasant/partridge? hunters etc.. so...

    Personal Survival Kit contents

I have already covered this, modern medical skin tissue glue is not the same as over the counter cyno super glue. Even if you do have some Med Glue DO NOT do it your self as there is a technique you have to use and the wound has to be sterile first. All this about stiching yourself up is for...

    what can I take flying

I realise that carrying a first aid etc..in other countries is good practice, but it can be put in the hold luggage when travelling, a pack of pain killers can go in your bag and is often a good idea, although I am sure they have them on board. I am sorry and I dont wish to apear rude but it...

No it is not ok, household superglue has solvents etc..in it, only in date med glue does the job and shouldn't be used unless you have been trained. Put a field dressing on any cut and get to the hospital.
