    Modern, robust, candle lantern

No worries. If you do go down the route if build your own, build it around an easily obtainable candle. I have a couple of UCO's as well but the candles are extortionate at £3 per candle unless home made. The Eltex burns standard 38mm or 40mm wide 60mm to 90mm high pillar candles at £0.75...

    Modern, robust, candle lantern

Look at Eltex (Hilite) Dragonfly candle lantern. Takes 1.5 inch pillar candles, rather than custom Uco ones. Also puts out quite a bit more light. One recently went on eBay...

    New frying pan

Aldi has cast iron at moment, frying pan, casserole dishes etc in Le Cru style for very reasonable prices. Dripping, lard and ghee are the best fats in order for seasoning. After that coconut, avocado, peanut (ground nut) and olive oil last.

    What did you buy today?

If they are the old E14 bulbs, you are looking for a dimmable warm led with same connector size. If you can post a picture and any writing on bulb stem I can have a look and see if anything that might be suitable. https://a.aliexpress.com/_EjR9itn

    knife throwing book wanted

Don't have a book but self taught. Get a professional throwing knife (my first was about £20 about 20 years ago.) to start. I see similar knives are about £35 to £40 e.g. https://sharg.pl/product-eng-109832-Muela-Outdoor-PRO-THROW-Knife-PRO-80L-14.html Next step is to figure out your...

What to do with partially boggy land?

Digging with a proper ditching spade is not that difficult as long as ground is not overly stoney but a mini digger can do in a day, what you could manually do in a week. No vegetables or cereals like boggy ground, they all prefer free draining soils, even rice, hence the drainage that nearly...

My probably annual winter jacket recommendation thread!!

You could try a fix on the S6, if the fibre pile is moving inside the sleeve. Pull pile lining up towards armpits and about a couple inches above the cuff, run a stitch around the sleeve, parallel to the cuff. This will act as a stop to the pile movement and should no longer get exposed to...

Do metals get old and weakened through time?

Need to see the raw edges of the break to identify cause if not corrossion. Just like a knife being abused, you can get micro fractures that allow corrosion or can cause sudden failures.
