Go for a DPM basha, I understand the ‘pain’ but the basha will give you comfortable living space.

For lightweight boots I go for the AKU Pilgrim. You can find new or used MOD version (they come in as many colours as you like as long as it's brown) for about £100. Fit like a glove.

A bit more expensive but I have to recommend the Savotta Jakarri M. Great pack, get the aluminium frame and carrying a fair bit of weight is a breeze. The lid floats for greater capacity.
