So what do you all drink these days?

Always preferred good Cider to beer but partial to a good Merlot or Mead as well.

    A bit of Whittling

I hope so. The intention is to have them as small God figures to go with the cloak that Debs is working on for story telling. The more visual elements we can provide will add multi sensory depth to the sessions we run in schools.

    A bit of Whittling

I’m not great on wood ID but I think Thor and Wayland are linden/lime. The Valkyrie is Bay from an overgrown tree in our yard and I have no idea what Odin was but it is light. I generally use a dark wood stain and then follow up with Fiddes Jacobean Oak furniture wax.

    A bit of Whittling

I used to mutter about not being able to work with wood. I used to think that as a Metal botherer I lacked the different mindset needed for wood. Generally you can beat a price of metal into submission but wood requires a more collaborative approach in my opinion. Anyway, a few projects ago I...

    So.. what happened...

I still pop my head in but rarely post these days so mea culpa. Over the last twenty years my fitness has declined somewhat. I don’t get out as much as I used to and the nature of my interest in camping has changed as well. My photography has become more studio based so not out in the...

Short video of the Steam Tent Co-operative camp at BushMoot 2024

It is nice to see that someone took some video of the camp around lighting up time. I always think that is the best time to see it really. Link Here.

Steam Tent Corner - Bushmoot 2024

Steve and I are all packed ready for next week and it’s fair to say that we will be bringing a few more lanterns with us this year. We have also acquired a larger tarp for the fire rig and hope to have that up if we can sort out the rigging. Just like last year, we hope that this will provide...

    20th Anniversary Celebration

We have some very interesting tubular lanterns now. Hot Blast and Cold Blast, American, French, German, Chinese, Czech and even a few British lanterns. ( And Steve has just added a Polish one and I've picked up a Canadian one too. )

    20th Anniversary Celebration

Steve and I will be heading up the Steamtent corner with a few other members again. Hoping to have a larger sheltered area around the fire rig this year and even more lanterns. We'll be running a couple of simple workshops too but mostly just chilling out with fellow craft workers of all...

Thank you for a good Summer BushMoot

Great event again and much easier for us Northerners to get to. Thanks to you and the team for your hard work.

A few of the workshops expect at the Moot

On a less formal basis, there are usually crafty things happening around the Steam Tent corner. We think of them as “Craft Jams” where people just sit and work on whatever they are up to or into, in a generally creative social group. I have a few jobs I will be working on, I think Aaron will...
