Finished Damascus And Stag Bushcraft Knife

If I take a picture of one dead on from above with the length, you can make a template from that. Bear with me 10mins.

Finished Damascus And Stag Bushcraft Knife

The handle looks very palm filling. Something I really like in a knife.

Trip Report Celebrating First Blood 40th Anniversary

I think we all did. Swooning over the Survival Aids catalogue with the Wilky survival and Buck etc. Then John Fenna burst the bubble by telling everyone it was crap:buttkick:

Trip Report Celebrating First Blood 40th Anniversary

I remember. I saw one of the two I had commissioned come up for sale not so long back for a nuts amount. Although there were only two made.

Trip Report Celebrating First Blood 40th Anniversary

Definitely not. It’s very much of its time. It’ll do the job for sure if it was pressed and they’re exceptionally well made. The hollow handle weak tang argument doesn’t hold water as Jimmy excecuted it very well. But it’s not for me. I’d put it more in the combat/survival category too.

Trip Report Celebrating First Blood 40th Anniversary

They are Andy Wood made copies. He had the Lile licence to produce high end replicas at one point. Probably the most accurate reproductions out there, and the level of detail is insane to the 6 screen used ones made by Jimmy Lile. I have a LILE stamped one, but I’d be off my rocker to use...

    So.. what happened...

That’s easily sorted. There's loads of external hosting sites that are free. I used photobucket for years until they started charging. They’re dead simple to use.

I did have some pics of the saw results as it was happening. Maybe Clem has them.

Trip Report Celebrating First Blood 40th Anniversary

Very well. I think they got a bad rap from the mass produced replicas. But a hand made one with full flat grind with the bottom of the saw teeth narrower than the edge, makes them very effective. Surprisingly so. Even batons OK if it wasn’t for the teeth chewing the baton up.

I’d didn’t, it was a forum glitch. That got progressively worse when I tried to fix it :lmao:

    So.. what happened...

Whatcha Bill. Yeah, we are still together. Poppy is now a young adult and is at college studying hard to become an entomologist. She joined up here during covid, but unfortunately didn’t stick around due to a few snarky people not being able to deal with her enthusiasm. But to be fair...

He is a bit diminutive. But he makes up for it in attitude.

    Yup. Can’t argue with that.

Trip Report Celebrating First Blood 40th Anniversary

Here’s something to make HillBill happy. A couple of years back FerlasDave, Clem and I met up in the Welsh wilderness to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of First Blood. It was after all, one massive influence for those of us that grew up in the 80’s. We had a hi def projector, Lile knives...

    So.. what happened...

FB isn’t great for discussion as it’s just one page where subjects get pushed down and lost quite quickly. So it’s harder to have a real discussion with people. As slowworm points out. It’s more about one off views and opinion posts than actual ongoing discussion and skills sharing. Things...

    So.. what happened...

That pretty much sums it up too.

    So.. what happened...

It’s true. Many of us have moved on. Theres only so many times you can discuss the same old thing, and the lack of anything good on the TV has seen new people introduced to the subject drop. The art of communication is also being lost. I’m sure old timers like me are also to blame to some...
