That sounds like a horrific pest, a permanently open wound like that, Stew. I use sudocrem to cure all ills, but I sometimes wonder what else it is suppressing. Just ordinary health paranoia, I think, and still, no ill-effects yet.

Have I got this right; you are in Wales? I lived in the Rhondda as a kid ... there was slate all over the place. But I think mainly from the north and mid Wales - I don't remember seeing slate quarries in the south ... blue pennant quarries everywhere there was house...

Thought it might be a bit of a pool table, but that make little sense. It could be architectural. There might be more in the ground if its the site of a demolition.

I've never worn a linen base when it really counts, up a mountain, in the winter, but I often wear a linen shirt under a sweater in cooler weather. It is so comfortable because it's so absorbent for any occasional exertions ... but not wicky, I think. It does dry a lot quicker than...

But, the 420J steel used to make the laminate is very soft. It could erode, depending on a persons convexing technique or liking for a polished finish
Ah ... got the wrong end of the stick. This help? The logo looks washed out on all the fixed blade Fallkies I have ... there's just some ink in the engraving/etching.
If you mean the old unlaminated one, I can't say. This is for the reason that I passed up a chance of buying one (completely affordably) about eight years ago and have regretted it ever since.
