So can we go camping ? Scotland.

Please dont try and come around here. It appears the cops have been heavily criticised for spending to much of their shifts sitting by the fire as they are now being very active and turning visitors away! The local shops are also becoming more militant at refusing to serve people that aren't...

Hikvision stuff every time. Use Poe and you can run cat 5/6. That also allows smaller holes to be drilled through the fabric of the building as you can crimp connectors on after. Don’t waste your money on anything else.

Longer buffalo windshirt - any options?

Thats exactly the one I had and liked. For me the crotch strap stopped it riding up the back because the back of the shirt was too short for me. Its why I bought a Montane one as a replacement with it having the strap.

Longer buffalo windshirt - any options?

Fortis always used to do a pretext type rain/wind top. I can’t see it on their website now. They do their own version of a buffalo and also do custom manufacture- https://www.fortisclothing.co.uk/shop/mammoth-smock-ripstop/ don’t know if that helps at all?

So can we go camping ? Scotland.

I have to agree. The general public won’t appreciate how wide an area Raigmore covers up here. They’ll not even have thought that in ‘normal’ times they have rooms available on site for family and early morning inpatients. Things like that just don’t happen elsewhere in the uk. Raigmore Is busy...

Advice for 16 year old buying a lock knife?

My parents always taught me it was unlucky to gift a knife to somebody for free. The recipient had to offer silver coins as payment. Doesn’t this avoid the ‘gifting‘ arguement; or were my parents just trying to recover money given by the ‘tooth fairy’

So can we go camping ? Scotland.

@Dogoak if that was Ullapool, then no wonder we’ve had Covid outbreaks there. A friend looks after a holiday home. The owners asked her opinion on coming up to their holiday house. She was told blank that if they came they’d not be served in the local shops or helped by locals.

So can we go camping ? Scotland.

At the Thursday briefing Nicola spefically used an example of travelling from Edinburgh ( I think) to see parents in Inverness saying that wasn’t ok as you couldn’t reasonably do the journey and see them in a day, plus you have to stay local. last Saturday we observed a couple camping in a tent...

Wanted: Long ferro inset into antler

I made my own. Bought the antler from a pet shop (dog chew) and the rod off eBay. Drilled out and used epoxy to glue together.

    Ticks and their removal!

We have thousands of ticks on the Croft. We use a tick twister to remove them off the dogs but they are on medication that is excellent. The ticks die on biting the dog and then just fall off the pet. The only downside is you can’t use it if you have cats as it is harmful to them. Can’t recall...

Planning Tips For Wild Camping Scotland? (Post-lockdown of course)

You’ll not be bothered if in a vehicle. Last summer over a stretch of 40 miles every lay-by was occupied by a motorhome, caravan or car camper. The police won’t bother you. There are far to few cops covering massive areas and they have better things to do (mainly scraping up crashed tourists...
